It was my first time trying Ethiopian food.  Was very good. Learn how to eat with my hands ✋️. It was very cool. We had a good time. I wanted to try Ethiopian beer, but they didn't have it. So, the server recommends a wine 🍷.  And was a good choice. All desserts , yammmmm

Had an amazing experience at Das! The meal was absolutely delicious, and the service was exceptional. Meza and Samira made us feel so welcome and took great care of us throughout our visit. The warm, inviting atmosphere combined with their attentive service made the evening special.

An expensive try at ethiopian food.  One unidentifiable spice is powerful and predominant. The chicken is so tough you cannot get it off the drumette, (only 1 drumette on a $26 plate) and it is expensive.  Cold, thin  sponge pancake is used to pick up the piles of mushy foods. (Mostly types of lentils) Sitting outside was beautiful but the food was unpleasant.  Pics are vegetarian and meat dishes on 1 plate.

the perfect family style for the twice a year family visiting dc dinner. das ethiopian is easy to miss as it sits on the edge of the georgetown neighborhood. it’s a hidden gem with a michelin star. each persons order is combined onto a large dish, atop a canvas of injeras. the injeras are bottomless, a benefit that gives any hungry diner a true bang for their buck. since all the curries and flavors are displayed together, you get to try many flavors throughout your meal. my favorite is the cabbage with carrots in sauce (tikil gomen). if you’re lucky enough to be seated by the windows, you’ll notice the baskets of mint plants along the windows outside. a waitress went out to pick some leaves as we ate. it felt good knowing and witnessing where (at least some of) the food comes from.

das ethiopian is a place for bonding, either over the family serving styles or the smaller and quieter dining environment.

Great food, but unfortunately the service needs some work. They must have been short staffed on this night - we waited 10 minutes to be greeted at the door, and the entrance area was extremely tight and uncomfortable. After being seated, we had to wait more than 15 minutes to order. The meat and vegetable samplers were both delicious and flavorful. I'd highly recommend the food, and hopefully the service problems were only temporary.
