A really fantastic centre. There is a tour that lasts approximately 45mins-1hr that is very informative and the level of English from the tour guides is excellent. Well priced at USD10. There are information boards explaining the history of the centre and the war, and you are then shown and explained how the rats systematically scan for the explosives. At the end, you get the opportunity to hold a rat if you want - they are very gentle and clean.
The centre has a small gift shop and a cafe serving snacks and hot & cold drinks.
An excellent centre and well worth the hour if you are in Siem Reap. They are doing incredible work.

Fantastic project finding landmines and unexploded ordinance throughout Cambodia, the Tanzanian Giant Rats are doing an incredible job saving lives man hours and money. The guide was very knowledgeable conducting the tour, we had Gertrude showing us her skill detecting small amounts of TNT hidden in metal buried in the sand pit. Special animals doing an extraordinary job, not to mention the handlers performing an exceptional chosen career.

If you want to spend some quality time this is the place. The tour lasts about an hour.

Entrance ticket is 10 USD and it goes for a nobile cause.

The tour is educational and the rats are extremely friendly and docile.

They will show you how the mine detection works with explanation of the benefits of using rats. After that if you want you can take a picture while handling one of the furry critters.

They take great care of them and their fur is very soft ;)

Hold a giant rat. 🐀 See demonstrations of the amazing mine-detecting rodents. Excellent air conditioning so lovely place to drop into on way back from temples.  Rats are calm, clean and well looked after. Also their medical work detecting TB cases. Small museum. Shop has decent bamboo water bottles. Just €2 tuktuk ride from Siem Reap city centre. Takes about an hour. Regular tours.

This is a must. Learn how APOPO is using rats to clear land mine and other unexploded ordinance from Cambodia and other countries. Your guide takes you through the process of how the rats are trained. Then you get to watch a demonstration of mine clearing. If you want, you can also hold can also hold one of the rats.
