Platteklip Gorge, known as one of the most challenging yet most loved trails in Cape Town. The views are magnificent. It is important to assure you are dressed with comfortable shoes, pack light, wear protective gear according to the weather for the day and stay hydrated. Parking is sufficient but early start is always recommended. If you are planning to take the cable car down, do make sure it’s operational as this is weather dependent on some days.

Hard but great view! We were relatively fast (1,5 h) and were on top before our friends with the cable car because of their long queue. But I recommend 2 Liters Water per Person and take care, there is no shade!!

Stunning walk through the valley. Be prepared before you start, as some parts are sequences of steps followed by more steps and then some more steps. For Dutchies, don't be fooled by the name, this is not very Plat. ;)

Bring lots of water (you'll burn through it fast on a sunny day) and a hat, as it's a quite unforgiving trail.

The view is worth it tho.

Watch out for the dreadful barbed wire “railings”.
Oh and don’t park facing oncoming traffic. It’s a R500 fine. Bloody cops on the beat everywhere there picking on easy targets and not finding the criminals.

Beautiful hiking trail with outstanding views. Its especially beautiful in spring.
The route is mostly steps and well defined steps, with some areas that require using your hands/scrambling. If you are fit, it's easy. But if you are not fit or you are scared of heights it will be challenging.
