We were early as Google has wrongly stated the operating time.  We had confirmed with the boss on the timing.

Dinner 5pm to 8pm

Located in Puxi near Mao Ming South Road, this restaurant offers authentic and traditional Shanghainese cuisine with a “home-made” style.  It’s a very small place with only a handful of tables and normally customers have to wait outside the restaurant. Lady owner of the restaurant is well-known for his “down to earth” attitude towards customers. Food quality is good overall especially the “soup with bamboo shoot and Chinese ham” but I would prefer “Lanxin Restaurant” just next door.

Amazingly delicious and authentic shanghainese food, rstu run by an old lady who has been operating for decades. No fringe, local decor, great value and I'm definitely coming back for more !!!

Fortunately, there was still room in the store when we arrived. It was fully booked five minutes later. The boss asked us politely what we wanted to eat. Fortunately, I did my homework and there was no leak.
Other customers didn't know what to order, and the boss said very characteristically: How did you know about my store? If you don't know what to eat, why would you want to come? (Although it is very straightforward, it seems to be correct when you think about it!!!
