Back at Cafe Amalia at Gotland Museum. Both for the Museum and the cafe's saffron pancake.

I had it the last time we were here and brought 3 pcs for takeaway last month. I wonder if the reason their saffron pancake is different is because of the size of the cut of the almonds and the kind of berry jam. Still, you have to try their saffron pancake. I love the outdoor seating area which is within Gotland Museum.

Well sorted exhibition that takes you through the history and geology of Gotland and Visby.
You will find there a great collection of pictures and carved medieval stones. History is brought to life by personalising stories. The stories are told by historic people, assumed or real, from their perspective. There is also a treasury displaying coins and jewellery  found on the island.

Ok museum, took about 45 minutes to go through it ( and then you spend some time walking, since it's located in two buildings and three floors), not overwhelming mutch items but descent information in Swedish and English. Save it for a rainy day ( we did) 😉

Cute and petite museum, but lacks part of history.

It went quite well with artifacts from stone age to medieval time. But the story went totally stopped from Danish invasion. I am sure there are more stories to be told from 16th century onward. I’d want to know how Visby has gotten fame as a touristic island again. I wish to see more stories about post-medieval Gotland in a near future.
