This place more than backs up its reputation. One of the best burgers I've ever had. Double cheeseburger with thick cut bacon, an egg, and a side of crispy fries, Outstanding, and everyone at our table was blown away. We also had some excellent wings for the table to share. Fantastic selection of beer and whiskey. Server was knowledgeable and friendly. Everything seems simple here, but they really take it and level it up.

Amazing Burger Experience at Au Cheval Diner – One of the Best!

If you’re a burger lover, Au Cheval Diner should be at the top of your list! We went in with high expectations, and this place did not disappoint. The burger was absolutely incredible—juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked.

The fried egg topping is a must if you’re a fan of that extra richness, but even without it, the burger stands out on its own.

The inside of the diner has a fun, lively vibe, and the open kitchen adds a cool touch. Service was friendly and impressively fast, making for a great overall dining experience.

The wait time was minimal (around 10 minutes), though it can get longer during peak hours, so just be prepared.

The only downside? The fries weren’t my favorite, but the burger more than made up for it. Highly recommend this spot if you’re craving one of the best burgers in town!

My dear God, is indeed the best burger ever(for me). I had so many burgers in my life (cause I love it) and this one was the best.
First, the place is really nice, we sat at the bar and the service was nice and good too.
We had the burger and ordering the extra bacon is Necessary. Also we had the ice cream with beer and it was really good, never had it before.
The burger is perfect because it has it all: the bread is so good, the meat tender and juicy, the bacon is oh my god and in the end is an explosion of taste. We didn’t have reservation and there was a line of around 45 minutes, we had a drink in a bar close by while we waited.

A definite must-try for fans of burgers!

The vibes of the restaurant are awesome, and they play good music! It can get a bit crowded, but it’s got a cozy and welcoming atmosphere!

The portions are big enough for 2-3 people per dish - including the burgers! Everything tastes super fresh and very delicious! I recommend sitting at the bar so you can see the kitchen staff do their magic!

Best burger I've ever eaten.  And top 3 meals I've ever had in my 51 years.  Burger was cooked perfect, cheese was melted but not burnt or runny, egg was best I've ever had with the solid white and perfectly runny yoke, pork belly made regular bacon taste plain, and the bun/ mayo/pickles complimented this burger in the best way.  And let me not forget about the fries.  Crispy outside creamy inside.  This is how fries should taste.  And the dipping mayo you get with them takes it to another level.

The atmosphere is exceptional.  Music was cool and funky, staff was smiling and having fun, and not an unhappy customer to be found.

I was there during staff change and it was flawless.  Never seen a restaurant that worked that well.  This is the place to copy when it comes to operations.  They have it down and it's pretty much perfect.  Bartender original took my order at the bar and passed me to a server when she was leaving.  Seemless transition.  Server took great care of me and suggested a BBQ place for me to try, since I live in the Texas hill country.

Overall, they deserve more than 5 stars.  Best experience I've had in Chicago and probably anywhere else I've been.  Can't wait to come back to Chicago and eat there again.  Worth the airplane ride.

Hade en bra lunch här med en vän. Bra vibe, massor av aktivitet och fantastisk Service från en vänlig server som också var en bra konversationalist och visste menyn mycket väl. 

Min väns matzohbollssoppa får mig att önska att jag beställde den då den såg fantastisk ut och han sa att den smakade fantastiskt! Jag åt den hackade kycklinglevern, vilket var okej, men helt ärligt inget speciellt. Vi åt varsin burgare, vilket var utmärkt, även om jag inte tänker säga att det är en av de bästa burgare jag någonsin ätit eller den bästa i landet, vilket tydligen är mantrat för burgaren. Franska pommes frites var faktiskt en besvikelse; mycket vanligt. 

Två ytterligare kommentarer. Se bilden på vår server, men tyvärr glömde jag hans namn. Ledsen för den unge mannen. Och Bloody Mary var en av de bästa Bloody Mary jag någonsin haft! 

Den totala upplevelsen var underbar och jag skulle älska att gå tillbaka och prova något annat nästa gång.

Mötte upp vänner innan Cubs matchen hade hamburgare och pommes frites som var grymma. Gav kyckling anbud ett försök och de gjorde inte besviken heller. bartender var uppmärksam och det var en stor tid rekommenderar starkt!

Jag kom hit för en lunch med kollegor när jag var i Chicago för affärer. Au Cheval rekommenderades starkt av en medarbetare, så vi bestämde oss för att kolla IT.

Vi älskar hamburgare, och när du är på semester är det ett måste att äta en god hamburgare! Vår Chicago värd satte vårt namn på väntelistan, och vi stannade i AC tills vårt bord var redo. IT var bra eftersom kön var mycket lång, men vi kunde sitta omedelbart. Vi åt på uteplatsen, så vi kan inte kommentera atmosfären i restaurangen. Vår server var fantastisk. Han var så personlig och engagerande (jag önskar att jag kunde komma ihåg hans namn) . Hamburgare & Fries var stor. Se bara till att beställa en singel! Min man ville prova något annorlunda, så han bestämde sig för Fried Bologna Sandwich. Det fanns mycket Bologna, och bara de yttre delarna av Bologna stektes. Bacon är ett måste! Min fru är inte det största fanet av bacon och vi beställde en andra sida av IT! ! 

Vi hade också en stor server - se till att komma till Quebec City! 

Stämningen är cool, och smakerna är oförglömliga. Au Cheval lever upp till sitt rykte – helt enkelt, helt utsökt.

Medan på en 45 minuters väntan frågade jag paret framför oss på nätet om de var lokalbefolkningen och om det var värt att vänta. De försäkrade oss om vi gillade hamburgare, detta var platsen och värt att vänta. Våra hamburgare levde inte upp till hypen. De saknade smak. Jag har haft bättre smak hamburgare på en take out drive through. Kanske de är den bästa burgaren i Chicago - mina sympatier Chicago.

Denna lilla restaurang som ligger i hjärtat av Fulton-distriktet har förmodligen den bästa skinka burgare jag någonsin haft. Jag är en nästan femtioårig man som älskar en god burgare, så jag skriver det uttalandet med lite trovärdighet. Menyn är begränsad, men när perfektion har uppnåtts blir mångfalden diskutabel. Nötköttet är perfekt kryddat och tillagat. Toppingen är klassisk, men professionellt proportionerad och förberedd. Baconet är himmelskt. Min fru och jag beställde en sida av bacon för mellanmål och topping våra hamburgare och det var det bästa var och en av oss någonsin smakat. 

Atmosfären är mysig och livlig. Det är en plats där man kan släppa ner håret med en grupp, eller bara äta och chatta som ett par. Jag rekommenderar starkt Au Cheval. Jag kommer tillbaka.

Stekt bologna smörgås var fantastisk också

Jag ska hålla mig kort. Detta är ett måste. Bästa burgaren jag någonsin ätit. Kvaliteten på köttet kombinerat med kanderade, peppar bacon och det mest perfekt tillagade ägget på toppen gör detta till ett måste. Detta slår alla Wagyu burgare alla dagar i veckan. För att inte tala om den stora atmosfären och extremt informativ och hjälpsam personal.

Det här var mitt livs bästa burgare!

Precis somnde flesta andra som sökt sig hit en vanlig dag i ett blåsigt Chicago så kom vi med höga förväntningar och fick vänta 40 minuter på ett bord (be om att få vara med på sms listan så slipper du vänta alldeles utanför och kan gå en promenad istället). 

Maten var dock värd både väntan och den alltför höga musiken. Hamburgarna var perfekt tillagade inte massa onödigt på utan bara riktigt goda ingredienser!

Tips testa gärna Hashbrowns!

Personen som sköter dörren måste lämna sin makt resa. 

Service inuti är stor. Maten är mycket välsmakande. 

Person som hanterar dörren är helt konstig och oförskämd! 

Vi kom tidigt, berättade för dem att vi hade en fest på 6 och de sa att det skulle vara en 45 - 60 minuters väntan. Vi var okej med detta och gick för en drink bredvid. Vi fick ett sms som sa att vi hade 15 minuter på oss att få vårt bord. Inga problem, vi går och säger till dem att vi är redo men en i vårt sällskap är osäker på om de kan komma. 

Deras svar var: ”Vi behöver hela ditt sällskap för att sätta dig men ditt bord är inte klart ändå.” 

Vi var förvirrade. Behövde vi den 6:e personen eller var vårt bord inte klart eller båda? 

Vi väntade. Ingen uppdatering. Så vi frågade om vi kunde sätta oss. Vårt bord var fortfarande inte klart. Varför skicka ett sms och be oss hämta vårt bord? 

Vår vän kunde inte komma så vi sa att vi hade 5 . ”Vi behöver alla sex annars kan du inte sitta.” De var så oförskämda och avvisande utan omsorg medan så många grupper bara kom in och massor av bord var tomma. 

Vi väntade i 30 minuter. Så småningom får vi veta att vårt bord är klart. Varför vara så oförskämd och behandla folk så här? 

Maten är god men är det värt att bli misshandlad?

Vårt första äventyr i West Loop i morse ledde oss till caféer som inte åt frukost. Hög på koffein och en munk vi var scrambling för frukost. 

Vi snubblade över Au Cheval när vi letade efter ett matställe som har stängt. Deras yttre är icke-beskrivande med uteservering framför. De har en heldagsmeny som inkluderar frukost. 

Det var en vacker dag så vi satt ute vid picknickborden. Vår underbara servitris, Maria, informerade oss om att de är kända för sina hamburgare. Så till frukost delade vi en singel (två biffar) med ägg. Vi lade till en sida av tjockskuren peppard bacon. 

Min fru kallar denna typ av hamburgare ”klassisk”. Det var perfekt. Titta på bilderna, fantastiskt och perfekt. Båda. 

Insidan av restaurangen har en flott bar känsla. 

Till råga på allt Maria gav oss en “Välkommen till Chicago” skopa gelato. Mums.

Benmärg förmodligen det bästa jag någonsin ätit. . Texas toast var perfekt ackompanjemang: ) Pommes frites som var så goda att vi var tvungna att fråga vad som fick dem att smaka så gott/annorlunda. Svar: stekt i nötköttstalg som olja. 

Maken besviken på hamburgaren... mer som en smashburgare. Han väntade sig en tjock saftig köttig hamburgare. Så många hade hajpat upp det, aldrig tänkt på att fråga om biff typ i förväg. Och bara så du vet - en singel är 2 biffar och en dubbel är 3 biffar - gå och tänk! 

Also: DE TAR INTE RESERVATIONER! Räkna med att vänta. 

Inuti påminner om en högljudd, mörk, trång brittisk pub. Grill är öppen matlagning område i fri sikt bakom bar. 
Vår server var fantastisk! Stor personlighet och professionalism. Han tog även vår bild (flera poser: )

Maten är bra, men att få ett bord är svårt och restaurangen gillar helt klart att ha folk som köar och/eller blir avvisade vid dörren för att skapa ”hype”. Vi försökte många gånger att få ett bord. Vid varje tillfälle fick vi veta att det var en 45 - 60 minuters väntan trots många ( 25 + tabeller) inom och utanför. När vi artigt frågade varför det fanns tomma bord fick vi veta att ”dessa är för personer på väntelistan”. De var inte närvarande. Vi och andra, tillsammans med våra plånböcker, var. Helt klart är ”väntan” en del av ”varumärket”. Rättvist nog men maten och atmosfären är inte värt det när du äntligen får det.

Allvarligt överskattad, måste jag säga. Den mörka inredningen och inredningen gör att stället ser dyrt ut, men trots all hype smakade hamburgaren som något från Shake Shack. Pommes fritesen var till slut oansenliga. Vi kom in kl. 11. 00 på morgonen en tisdag, vilket var bra eftersom jag hade hatat att stå i kö för maten jag serverades.
