This restaurant is designed in a traditional, Japanese manner. The bar-side seating allows you to see into most of the kitchen but there’s also standard table seating and even tatami room alcoves for larger parties and reservations. While the fried food selection and combos are quite yummy, the price did not justify the traditional tonkotsu (pork) dish I selected. The coating was too flaky and at times fell off the meat itself. The breading did not hold up well in even a light sauce. The sauce selection is fun but beware that you won’t receive many plates to place the sauces on; you may need to drip directly onto the pieces if you want to try all 4 sauces! There is English on the menu so us foreigners can just point. The overall presentation was good but I think I should’ve opted for no rice and soup combo (-6000¥!). The rice was a bit sticky and not thoroughly mixed. Overall, a nice meal for the area in a very relaxing setting! The cold tea, not water, is quite good as well.

Traditions themed katsu restaurant. Their specialty is the pork katsu, from which you can choose from two cuts and sets. They offer unlimited rice and salad.

The katsu is pretty good. It’s a big juicy piece that’s cooked medium rare. The sesame leaf rice is great. Sashimi set was surprisingly good given that it’s not their specialty here. We especially liked the bonito sashimi.

This traditional Japanese tonkatsu restaurant is a Tabelog Top 100 spot, and for good reason. The staff is friendly, and the decor is authentically Japanese, with great attention to detail. The portions are generous, and the meat quality is excellent. The shrimp tempura is impressively large. The only downside is that the batter is a bit thick. You can also upgrade to flavored rice, which is a nice touch.

A place dedicated for Katsudon with a nice and unique dining atmosphere. This place was packed when we arrived at 730pm but the wait wasn't so bad and the food was worth it. Order the premium pork fillet (rather than the loin) and you'll understand the difference of the premium pork as its jucy and tender inside out. Perfectly fried, their batter is flakier rather than crispier so it's a matter of preference. Cabbage is unlimited, but the miso soup and rice that comes with the set is 1 round only.

Very tourist friendly as staff spoke english.
Google maps pin indicates it's in the center of a building, but it's located along the main road with a unique facade. Restaurant is in Basement 1.

4.5 stars. The Tonkatsu itself was very tasty, tender and fresh. Loved it. The shiso rice was great (and free refills). Plenty to dip the tonkatsu in which makes it fun. The vibe was definitely more restaurant style than I was hoping for, but still decent aesthetics and not too noisy. Would recommend for sure for solid tonkatsu.
