Really nothing to complain about. Feels authentic and not forced to be authentic. Prices were very reasonable ($4 a set).

Most surprising was the service. Not overly friendly, but more than what I would expect from a traditional kopitiam. As a foreigner, this was a relief.

The coffee itself was great, strong, made to order. The kaya toast was really good, fluffy, generous. Great bread. The eggs were standard.

It really is in a normal neighborhood, not some Cafe street. So the atmosphere felt nice and genuine. If you're in the neighborhood it's definitely worth a visit.

There is fried curry puff in front of the store. One dollar for each, and I ordered a breakfast set in the shop, a cup of coffee, two slices of bread, and two half boiled eggs. The eggs were opened when served, can eat directly with some seasonings or eat bread together. The bread is baked on charcoal, which is crispy and the filling is a thick piece of butter and kaya sauce. The salty sweet taste and the crispy bread are very delicious. It's very traditional and full of nostalgic.

A friend introduced me to Heap Seng Leong, and I was blown away by the exceptional coffee served by the uncle here, which comes with a slice of butter. Honestly, after trying it, I couldn’t help but feel a bit addicted! I’m not usually a coffee drinker, but this experience made me realize how much better coffee can be compared to overpriced chain stores. It’s affordable, flavorful, and truly addictive. Another unique touch is that the kaya served here is orange, instead of the usual green, but it was still absolutely delicious. This simple, no-frills spot is perfect for enjoying top-notch coffee and kaya butter toast at its finest.

Super old school spot that’s frequented by many regulars, and for us first timers, it was a little confusing as to how we should order since there isn’t a proper cashier, either both uncles manning the drinks and bread area when we arrived.

I did queue beside the drinks section and waited for them to take my order in hopes it was the right process and my order did get taken after awhile - with my drinks served immediately while the eggs and bread came later.

At $5+ for 2 drinks, 2 slices of bread and 2 eggs, it’s hard pressed to beat in this area - especially with charcoal toasted bread!

The food and drinks were generally good, as expected from an old school shop - am glad we chanced upon this hidden gem for our afternoon coffee break instead of at a cafe or hawker centre 👍🏻

I had the classic set: butter kopi, kaya butter toast, and half-boiled eggs. The coffee was rich, smooth, and creamy, with a delightful old-school flavor. The toast was perfectly crisp on the outside yet soft inside, with just the right balance of kaya and butter. The half-boiled eggs were done just right, complementing the meal perfectly.

If you’re looking for an authentic, no-frills local breakfast in a retro setting, Heap Seng Leong is definitely worth a visit!
