This is a relatively casual restaurant, new to the neighborhood, with lively and fast-paced music, a small dining environment, and friendly, easygoing staffs.

They have a rather global choices for a selection of smaller dishes and three main courses, a wide variety of drinks.

Not hard to reserve a place, good for meeting with some friends.

Difficult one to judge, here’s my takeaway from a dinner at Bar Raket.

+ food quality is good, very good. Dishes are very tasty, interesting options, nice daily/seasonal plates
+ interior is done well, cool layout
+ wine choice was decent (my knowledge is limited though)

Things I found hard:
- service is quick. Super quick. We ordered and got our dishes within half an hour. Everything. I’ve never experienced anything like it, as we were outside again within 55 minutes while we had a night of eating and drinking planned.
- after serving our dishes there was no real attention left for our table. Caveat here is that the place was packed and I could’ve done more to attract the attention, but I didn’t feel like it. Ultimately we only ate 4 plates and drank 1 glass of wine each.
- it’s expensive. Sharing plates averaging at around 22€ is steep.

Honestly I was thinking of giving 3 stars, because I left not really satisfied but:

* they are really hard working. It’s a small team and I was impressed by their effective work. Giving a lower rating doesn’t help, I feel.
* we were welcomed and helped with a smile. When I wanted attention, I was able to get it. I think my experience was hurt by the fact that no one came to ask if we wanted more drinks, more food or dessert by themselves. So the skill is there, I have the feeling they over-developed their service leaving less room for us to experience a nice, chill dining evening.

Summary: do I recommend coming here? Yes.
Somehow I hope to be going back and thoroughly enjoy it.

We went with my mom. She took mussels and I had pasta cacio e pepe. It was WOW! I think pasta was home-made but I didn’t ask. Coming back for it definitely. My mom liked mussels too. They serve a very tasty bread also. Had to ask for more. The service was very friendly, I really felt welcome. Thank you guys for the evening!

Our visit to Bar Raket started on a positive note. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the chef, setting a welcoming tone for the evening. The initial service was friendly and attentive, which made us hopeful for a pleasant dining experience.

Unfortunately, things quickly took a disappointing turn. After placing our orders, we waited a staggering 50 minutes for our mains, during which we observed the servers engrossed in socializing with friends dining at the bar. This lack of attentiveness became more apparent as our dissatisfaction grew. Despite our visible frustration, there was no acknowledgment from the staff. Instead, the service deteriorated entirely, with no offers for refills or additional drinks once ours were finished.

The tipping point was witnessing a server roll her eyes at us, an action that left us feeling unwelcome and further ignored for the remainder of our visit. This unprofessional behavior made it clear we were no longer a priority, and we couldn’t wait to leave.

While the ambiance and initial greeting held promise, the lack of attentiveness and poor service overshadowed any positives and left a poor taste despite the food actually being delicious. A truly disappointing experience.

They had me at 'north sea shrimp'. Urban vibe, mercato style dishes to share with great taste and provenance. This food bar is well worth a visit in Antwerp.
