Great atmosphere, good pricing, good food and huge local wine selection.

As an American visiting Rome, we stumbled across this place due to the patio.  Due to popularity and a lack of a reservation, we had to sit inside.  Sitting inside was still worth it, though if you want to sit outside later in the evening I'd recommend getting a reservation.

This restaurant serves authentic Italian food, not the touristy stuff we have found elsewhere in the city.

Thank you for the best first dinner in Rome! The food was incredible. The members of staff were extremely lovely. Our waiter went above and beyond explaining us all of the special meals and translating to English so perfectly. It’s our first time in Rome and thus explanations were very much needed. Thank you for making us feel so welcome. The atmosphere was so lovely and authentic. What a truly great Italian restaurant!

Very good pasta. We had carbonara and truffles. Wide wine collection also waiter recommended us what we should choose. Very friendly and helpful crew, but a bit chaotic. :)) We recommend!

We were recommended È Passata La Moretta by a local friend. Who specifically stated to try the carbonara and so naturally we had to give it a try. I wanted to make sure we had a table outside for dinner so I dropped by the restaurant at lunch time (they have a contact number but as a tourist I don’t have calling capacity, only data) - I wasn’t confident that it would be okay to walk in during lunch and reserve for dinner but the team couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating and I was able to reserve a table outside for that night.

Arriving at 8pm in the evening for our reservation, La Moretta was busy (so definitely worth reserving of you want to ensure you get a seat). There was a good mix of locals and tourists and the restaurant itself is located a few streets back from the main road, down some fairly tight alleyways, meaning there is limited car traffic, adding to the ambience, especially if seated outside.

We were served quickly by a very attentive and professional team of waitstaff and had the Buratta with Red Cabbage as a starter - the Buratta was the creamiest I have had yet, delicious in pairing with the bitter red cabbage, a refreshing and light starter. For mains we had the Amitriciana and Carbonara pastas. The Amitriciana had a delicious, deep red and rich sauce with a generous amount of pecorino, not too salty either which I appreciated. The Carbonara was really the star though, very traditional, very tasty and let me say that I would pay a lot of money just to know how they got that Guanciale so crispy - absolutely divine.

Overall the food, ambience and service were all on point, and we had a very enjoyable evening. Thank you to the La Moretta Team for making our last night in Rome a memorable and delicious one.
