I recently stayed at this hotel and was pleased with the gym and sauna facilities, which were the main reasons for my booking. The sauna is spacious, and the temperature felt nourishing. The gym is well-equipped, and while I did miss having a standard barbell, I was able to adapt without any issues thanks to the ample dumbbells, a Smith machine, and a small barbell.

Breakfast was quite disappointing, particularly in terms of variety and health-conscious options. The selection of cold cuts was limited (one type of cheese and two types of salami), while the cereal choices were heavily sugar-laden. The hot breakfast included sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes, baked beans, two types of bacon, hash browns, and scrambled eggs, but if you wanted eggs prepared differently, you had to request them. I asked for soft-boiled eggs on two mornings but received hard-boiled eggs both times, despite a 25-minute wait. Given that we were already quite hungry, we didn’t request a remake, but it was a bit disappointing.

One unexpected downside was the overwhelming house aroma in the reception area. It was so strong that it felt unpleasant just to breathe in, and I found it surprising that the front desk staff worked in such an environment.

On a positive note, the reception team was incredibly welcoming and kind, making check-in and interactions smooth and pleasant.

As for the room, we absolutely loved it, especially the comfortable bed, which made for a restful stay. The room we got did not have the best view - actually, I might as well have kept the curtains closed - as we were facing some gritty industrial building.

The bathroom presented two points of dissatisfaction: first, the towel rails/ boiler rails were notably dusty; I used one of our small towels to clean them. Second, one of our robes was stained with blood, which made us feel a bit icky!

This location may not be ideal for couples on holiday, as it is quite far from major attractions and offers limited activities in the immediate area. Reaching more vibrant parts of the city takes anywhere from 50 to 90 minutes, which can be inconvenient. In our case, we were looking for great dining options, a health food store, and scenic walks, but found these to be quite a journey away.

Overall, I appreciated the wellness and fitness facilities, the comfortable accommodations, and the warm hospitality from the staff. With some improvements to the breakfast selection and a reconsideration of the reception fragrance, this could be an even more exceptional experience.

Great hotel with luxury rooms. We were upgraded on check in to a suite. It was lovely. Probably the biggest hotel room I’ve had in London! Very big bathroom with separate bath and shower. The bed was very comfortable and I got a good nights sleep. Breakfast was excellent with al la carte menu available to order - however my poached eggs were more hard boiled!! Location is good for East of London - concerts at o2 for example. But with the jubilee line you can be in central pretty quickly. Bit of a walk to tube and it’s not the nicest. Suggest you walk 5 mins to the east India DLR to get on the jubilee line - takes longer but might be easier.

The hotel is beautiful lovely art work inside. Warm and elegant.  Interior is beautiful.

The king room I booked was lovely very good size had everything you needed.

I enjoyed the spa very relaxing was the highlight of my stay.

The only cons is the receptionist provided me with wrong information at the start of the stay and got very defensive when I told her that she provided me with this information upon arrival. Just improve on customer service and It may have gotten a 5 star.

Cleaning staff is amazing.  They made a beautiful romantic surprise when I came back. Extra attentive.

As a curly-haired woman with low-porosity hair, my biggest complaint about this hotel is the showers. The water pressure and density were so low that it took ages for my hair to even get wet—shampooing was a real struggle. The only shower option was a ceiling-mounted showerhead, with a separate bathtub that had no curtains or glass enclosure, clearly designed just for soaking. Frustrated, I switched to the bathtub, but even then, my husband had to hold the handheld showerhead for me just to finish washing my hair. Ironically, despite the room’s water-saving signs, I probably wasted more water just trying to get my hair clean.

Cleanliness was another issue. The heated towel rail was covered in dust, so we had to wipe it down before using it. Worse, I found a blot of blood on my robe, which was supposed to be freshly cleaned. It was so unexpected that I even checked if I was bleeding—thankfully, I wasn’t.

The breakfast options were also disappointing. As someone who is both gluten-free and sugar-free, my choices were extremely limited. The only gluten-free cereal available contained sugar, so I couldn’t eat it. I brought my own gluten-free bread, hoping at least to pair it with some eggs. However, they only served scrambled eggs—the one type I can’t eat. When we requested soft-boiled eggs, they came out fully boiled both mornings. It’s unclear why they couldn’t accommodate such a simple request.

Beyond the room and dining experience, the hotel itself had a few downsides. The lobby was overwhelmingly scented with a strong perfume, which was quite intense. The location is also quite remote, with limited public transport options. We had to walk about 20 minutes just to reach the nearest underground station, and there were no nearby shops or supermarkets.

On the bright side, I did enjoy the spa, and my partner loved the gym. The bed was also extremely comfortable, making for a great night’s sleep.

Overall, while the staff were kind and accommodating, the hotel had several drawbacks that made our stay less enjoyable than expected.

We were very grateful that although we had booked the wrong date originally the staff were super helpful and got us a room for the night without hassle and even an upgrade. Very friendly and helpful service! The room was really nice particularly loved the walk in shower, would definitely stay again.
