Country music, line dancing and a mechanical bull, recipe for a fun night out.

I went on a Friday night. We had to get tickets online prior to entry. Ladies were free, men cost $12 entry. The place got packed quickly and the line dancing was already in full swing. They had an instructor teach a couple of easy routines so everyone can get involved. Nachos, fries and drinks were just okay. But the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect. There's a good mix of crowds coming in and everyone was there for a good time. Definitely a fun place to check out if you want a different vibe from your usual watering hole.

I went here for the first time with a couple of friends since they've been wanting to do the mechanical bull ride for forever.

First off, we went on a Saturday before 10pm and there's an entry fee of $25 pp, unless you've bought tickets online. They also offer a QR code to scan to get the better deal (which we did). They're also a cashless venue, which I don't really like.

It wasn't busy when we came in, which was more my vibe. My friends got to ride the bull and learn some line dancing, so I'm glad they had fun. Definitely a good place if you love country music.

However, I had the opposite experience. I couldn't really get into the vibe like my friends. I decided to get a cocktail in the bucket since it seemed like a cool thing to get there. I was intrigued by it. Bartender that served me was nice, but as she handed me the machine for me to pay, the price for the drink showed that it was $28. (They don't show the drink prices, they just show the list of their drinks) That's a lot for a slushie in a plastic toy bucket.

Drink didn't even fill the bucket all the way, so I'm a bit annoyed by this point. But my friends and I figured it was because people were allowed to take the bucket home afterwards.

WRONG.

When we finished the drink and decided to leave, we were stopped by one of the staff (the one that stamps the wrists) at the stairs and he said I wasn't allowed to take the bucket, even though it was empty at this point. I know this wouldn't affect their liquor license since it was empty, so I don't know what their problem was regarding this. It was a toy bucket that probably costed no more than $3 at a dollar store.

Overall, not my thing. It's overpriced. There are definitely better bars and clubs in Toronto. But if you're into the whole country scene, then I won't stop you.

Disappointing Experience – Not What It Used to Be

I wouldn’t recommend this bar anymore. Apologies in advance for the long review, but our experience was incredibly disappointing.

I last visited Rock N Horse in 2016 and had an amazing time, which is why we chose to come back for my friend’s birthday. Unfortunately, the place has changed significantly—for the worse.

First, the prices are outrageous. We were charged $100 for four shots, and a single mixed drink was $30.00 On top of that, the atmosphere was completely off, and the DJ was unbelievably rude. When my friends went up to request a song (for the birthday girl, no less), he dismissed them with sarcastic and condescending remarks like, “I don’t care if it’s her birthday; it’s not her wedding.” and “What are you, her keeper? If she wants a song, she can ask herself.” His attitude was unprofessional, and he repeatedly played the same songs in rotation all night while refusing reasonable requests.

Additionally, I ordered the same drink I had back in 2016—the one served in a sand bucket with an upside-down Corona. This time, the drink came without the beer, and when we asked, the server told us they hadn’t done that in years. Yet, the price hadn’t changed.

Overall, this was a terrible experience. What was once a great bar has completely lost its charm, and my group unanimously agreed we will never be returning.

Do better, Rock N Horse—people are paying a lot to visit your establishment.

I had my bachelorette party here this past weekend with about 12 girls and it was perfect! All the staff were amazing and made our night great. I appreciate you guys! Thank you :) The best “last rodeo” a girl could ask for.  I would recommend to anyone.

This saloon has a mechanical bull ride which you can drink on many times you’d like after signing a waiver. If you ride the bull over a minute mark to the second round you get free drink tickets. The saloon plays country music, and the dress code is country. They also teach you how to square dance. This saloon is definitely a great time, bring lots of friends when you go. You also have to pay at the door unless you buy tickets ahead of time.
