The drinks were so good, perfectly balanced complex and inventive. The atmosphere was incredible, and the service was top notch. It gets busy on a Saturday night so DEFINITELY book a reservation like a week in advance or you'll face an hour wait to get in. Menu is ever changing so always something new.

They have a great cocktail bar with new drinks every quarter and great snacks. Dont get the tempura but other than that amazing option. Definitely on the pricy side.

Violet Hour is one of Chicago’s original mixology bars and places only last 17 years in this town by doing it right. I’ve been fortunate to drink here through most of that history and I’ve never had a bad experience.

For my latest trip, came in with five coworkers early on a Tuesday and, as we do, worked our way through most of the menu. Everyone enjoyed their drinks - ranking my four below.

1) Dragon Lady - it’s fire (and on fire to start)
2) Junglebird (lux) - transports you to vacation immediately!
3) Sketches of Spain (bartender’s riff menu) - comes with a sidecar that you slowly mix in to subtly change the flavor, worked well
4) BP in the Rain - was solid (and definitely potent as described!)

Service was great - Annie engaged our group well and proved very knowledgeable of the menu.

We ordered a few small plates at the end of the night - truffle frites disappeared followed by the cauliflower. Good elevated bar food

I wouldn’t have guessed that behind the graffitied wall was this beautiful bar. I had an amazing experience at violet hour and I loved how the host was accommodating after we realized we booked for the wrong day. He was able to still get us a table within 5 minutes.

The drinks were delightful. I only got one cocktail but it was enough for me. Very alcohol forward yet yummy.

Beautiful place. Dim lights for relaxing ambience. Cozy seats and booths. Nice and pretty bar. Drinks were fun and creatively designed and tasted good. But the food was a bit disappointing. So this is definitely a place to enjoy drinks but not the food. The cauliflower w gochujang was thickly battered and the nuts were a bit overpriced. Outside of the snacks the drinks were fun! Nice staff. Bathrooms were super clean and well lit.
