Quiet location, best breakfast buffet ever (fresh blueberries, mango, and raspberries), and wonderful atmosphere. Great spa and unique pool, they even have curling. Really uniquely good experience. Too bad Kitzski is not a very good place to ski (crowds and bumpy narrow slopes). Will return in summer next time.

The quality of the experience did not match the cost. 2.5⭐
We spent five nights in the garden suite. The room was nice. We enjoyed having a sauna directly in the room. However, we had no control over the porch light or anyway to block it despite it directly facing the bed. On nights we were exhausted and wanted to go to bed early the light made it difficult to sleep.

The food was a major reason we booked the hotel. The breakfast was great, well seasoned, and offered a variety of options. However, the five course dinners were disappointing. While the dishes were well plated, most were bland and not worth finishing. Perhaps they offer too many options and instead should have limited/fixed dishes they can then perfect.

The service was wildly inconsistent. Some wait staff were excellent, while others didn't seem to know what they were doing. On more than one night we were given the wrong dishes, to then have them taken to the correct table. Once they forgot to give us main courses and instead asked if we wanted dessert.

When we first visited the spa, Evangelia, the masseuse, questioned if we should be there and continued to be shockingly rude when I came back for a facial. My facial by Jolanda was great.

We really enjoyed the walk around the lake. However, a stay at the hotel is not necessary for this.

Overall, the quality of the hotel, food, and experience do not match what they aspire to offer. It's not terrible, but it's not great either. It's just mediocre.

This was our best vacation so far.
The hotel is easily reachable via train and you can then reach it by foot or a free shuttle service will pick you up. The moment we arrived we felt welcomed and taken care of. The whole staff is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is a mix of comfort and „we can manage this for you“. They offer everything a good vacation needs: relaxation (Wellness Area, Spa) and Sports (Gym, E-Bikes). The food was a dream. We will definitely come back and can wholeheartedly recommend.

We stayed at alpenhotel for 4 nights, my thoughts: -

Our arrival was not as warmly received as other, similar hotels in Austria. Guy on front desk was quite cold, unfriendly in his approach. Although we'd booked a package with spa treatments ebike hire, golf buggy use, none of this was mentioned. When we had to go and ask, he was quite blunt.

Rooms are OK but feel like they're trying too hard to be cool. The all glass shower which can be looked into from the bedroom with bright blue lighting felt somewhat voyeuristic for us.

Food was excellent both at breakfast and evening meals, really top quality. We enjoyed everything we ate. Evening meals feel very formal and even though we were within the dress code (smart tshirts, jeans, jumpers) at times we did feel quite out of place. My advice would be take smart clothes for evenings. Drinks at dinner and at the bar felt expensive. I appreciate it's Austria and a nice hotel in a nice resort but €8+ for a standard aperol felt pricey.

Mini bar in the room is very expensive considering they provide nothing complimentary. No bottled water, no snacks. In a normal hotel I'd accept this but at this price per night, I expected better.

Parking is very secure and free, which is great.

Hotel is a 30 min walk to the town centre, and once it goes dark you're walking with a torch for much if it. Be prepared!

Overall, it felt a bit up itself. Like the place is trying really hard to be a 6* hotel but can't get past 4, and looks down on people who don't fit the mould they like to have at the hotel.

We wouldn't return.
