This restaurant was my favorite to dine during the weekend in Edinburgh. I had booked dinner for my partner’s birthday. The moment we walked in, we felt warm and welcomed. We tried the soup of the day, which was puréed kale and potatoes. Absolutely delicious. For the mains, I had the mushroom risotto and roasted salmon. Very tasty.

We shared a toffee pudding for dessert, and the restaurant had remembered that I stated it was my partner‘s birthday in the reservation, so they wrote „Happy Birthday“ on the plate. Lovely.

The staff were extremely attentive and explained the dishes very well. I loved this restaurant and was happy with the experience overall.

Friendly and accommodating staff with well presented Scottish dishes.
We were able to book a table a few hours before and it was exciting to try some traditional Scottish dishes! The pigeon was a first for me and was a bit tough (not sure if this is just a quality of the meat) but the flavor was very good. The haggis was also a first and was fantastic, from the presentation to the flavor to the texture. I enjoyed the casserole of the day and the meat was perfectly cooked. Finished with a Gaelic coffee.

We had the pleasure of booking a last minute table at Howies and it might just be the best place I’ve experienced overall. The service is really amazing, all the staff are incredible attentive and a massive thank you should go to our waitress who is on the receipt as Chloe. She was incredibly friendly and made for a really great atmosphere. The place itself and the tables are well decorated and laid out, the lamps make a nice touch and add to the ambiance. You could clearly see the staff cared about the appearance to the restaurant. The food is actually really well priced especially considering the location and the early dining deal is one of the best I’ve ever seen. The food all around was clearly well thought out with flavours that really worked well together. Everything was very fresh and seasonal. I’m really surprised I haven’t seen people talking about this place enough. The small touches really make the world of a difference like offering to hang people’s coats and the shortbread served at the end. Hopefully the service charge is shared to all the staff as it was on the reasonable side too, we did leave a small tip on the card reader of about 5%. However it really didn’t reflect how we felt about the meal as we would definitely return so thank you!

Food as delicious as the previous reviews claim and authenticity backed by the local of our party. Staff, however, were a little bit too eager to ask how our meals were; asking twice per course which disturbed our conversations a few times. The room was a little noisy and would have done well to remove a table or two. Smoke from the kitchen looming over the room also spoiled the atmosphere somewhat.

Jag beställde haggisrätten. Den kom i en liten skål, bokstavligen 3 skedar, en potatis, en neeps och en haggis. Jag blev klar på nolltid och fick vänta på att familjen skulle avsluta sina normalstora måltider. Jag var så hungrig när vi åkte. Maten var utsökt men inte tillräckligt nära!

Jag kom tidigt med taxi för en gruppbokning utan att inse att de inte öppnar för middag förrän 5 : 30 . Jag var mitt uppe i ett akut utbrott av ischias och kunde inte gå. De ville helt enkelt inte lyssna och kunde inte förstå att jag bara behövde sitta och ta smärtstillande. Det fanns en bänk vid dörren som skulle ha räckt. Jag krävde inget annat än att få sitta. Värdinnan (kanske manager, jag vet inte) var mycket oförskämd och sa till mig att gå någon annanstans tills de öppnade i ca 45 minuter. Hade jag inte deltagit i en gruppmiddag hade jag återvänt hem istället för att återvända. Maten och Servicen var fantastisk. Ledningen har sedan dess svarat på mitt klagomål men är fortfarande vidhåller att det inte fanns något olämpligt med den anställdes beteende. Mitt råd skulle vara att undvika denna restaurang om du har några särskilda krav. De kommer inte att vara sympatiska eller hjälpsamma. I framtiden kanske de helt enkelt inte ska öppna dörren för en kund om de är stängda för affärer.

Howie's var en av våra bästa måltider i Edinburgh. Maten var exceptionellt fräsch och smakrik genomgående. Restaurangen i sig är ganska liten, vilket skapar en mysig men något trångt utrymme — definitivt en plats att njuta av en intim måltid. Vi har särskilt haft lunchmenyn. Personalen rekommenderade Rapscallion Seasonal Fizz cocktail, men vi fann att det inte var helt i vår smak. Fläderbloms- och gurkspritzen var dock lätt, krispig och en definitiv vinnare. Vi började med nybakad rosmarinfocaccia serverad med svart olivtapenade — helt utsökt. Hummern var perfekt tillagad och mör. Nackdelen är att spenaten och zucchinirisotton var lite bitter och inte träffade märket för oss. Det var fantastiskt att se vegetariska alternativ på menyn, vilket bidrog till variationen. Till efterrätt åt vi jordgubbar och glass, vilket blev en perfekt, uppfriskande avslutning på måltiden. Personalen var hjälpsam hela tiden, och om du har turen att få ett bord vid fönstret, kommer du att njuta av fin utsikt över Victoria Street. Sammantaget en underbar matupplevelse med utmärkt mat och Service — vi skulle definitivt återvända!

Jag undersökte lunchställen för Edinburgh under ganska lång tid och valde denna plats baserat på recensioner men tyvärr blev vi mycket besvikna. Restaurangen i sig är mycket mindre än bilderna gör det verkar, vilket gör det ganska grejer och tight. Vi hade sett fram emot hummer men detta var inte tillgänglig (jag har senare läst detta på många andra recensioner så jag skulle rekommendera att inte förlita sig på att detta är tillgängligt). Maten i sig, var ok men både kycklingen och fisken var torr och disken var mycket liten (en av våra sällskap hade "huvudstorleken" haggis och jag bävar för att tänka hur liten startstorleken skulle vara). Lagret serverades i en burk (inget på utkast) och det kostade nästan £ 6 för en 330 ml. Det vita vinet var ganska smaklöst. Allt som allt var det inte en stor upplevelse, vi skulle inte återvända och skulle inte rekommendera.

Hade en mycket trevlig sololunch. Hade inte bokat men fick ett urval av bord. Lokalen är elegant men inte pretentiös. All personal var mycket professionell och vänlig. Tack Ruth. Även en av mina husdjur peeves i att få serveras kall mat som ska vara varm. Inga problem här, varma, goda och kvalitativa ingredienser. Ser fram emot att återvända snart.

En riktigt bra och trevlig service. Utsökt mat, vi gick för fish & chips och var perfekt! Restaurangen är så stor, vi åkte två nätter, och vi behövde inte vänta så länge. Definitivt en plats vi kommer att besöka igen när vi återvänder till Edinburgh.

Utmärkt lokal, bra atmosfär, fantastisk mat och personalen var fantastisk. Den enda kritiken var att varje kurs (vi hade 3 ) kom omedelbart (bokstavligen) efter nästa med absolut ingen paus alls. En 5/10 minuters lucka skulle ha varit att föredra. Trots detta skulle det inte avskräcka oss från att gå igen eller rekommendera det.

Chloe var en härlig servitris! Hon förklarade dagens föremål och specialare. Hennes rekommendation att prova Raspberry Royale drycken var spot out. Det var utsökt och uppfriskande. Jag åt kycklingrätten. Jag gillade det. Jag älskade atmosfären i Howie's!

Maten var utmärkt och mycket prisvärt. Vår servitör var uppmärksam och be om alternativ till rätten var inga problem. Vi hade inte bråttom att lämna heller vilket var en bonus. 5 * hela vägen och skulle starkt rekommendera.

Vi gick eftersom vi ville njuta av Scott kök och de hade bra recensioner. När vi anlände servitören, var mycket ohjälpsam och oförskämd, han såg ut som om han inte ville göra sitt jobb, inget svar på våra frågor om menyn och rekommendationer, och även han dolde information om en 2 - kurs affär och extra tillägg. Mycket upprörd, min partner sa att vi skulle gå, men jag föredrog att prata med chefen. Karen, värdinna och trolig chef, kom för att försöka lösa problemet. Hon var snäll och hon förklarade affären, vilket hennes kollega låtsades förklara för oss, men det gjorde han inte. Vi bad om deras rekommendationer, och nyfikenhet båda, de föreslog de två alternativen med extra tillägg, £ 9 en av dem och £ 2 den andra, om vi tar affären. Efter middagen var maten inte så bra som vi förväntat oss, men acceptabelt, åtminstone jämfört med andra restauranger vi var i Edinburgh. Slutligen, när vi ville betala räkningen, förväntar sig att betala serviceavgiften på grund av Karens hjälp, hade vi en annan obehaglig överraskning, med tillägg som aldrig förklaras ordentligt av varken den första servitören och värdinnan.
