had a nice time here, and they're open late, unfortunately i couldn't thoroughly enjoy myself due to a friend being unreachable, apparently slept through the event and left me stranded (i'm from Hamilton), the DJs were really good that night (fri june 28/24) , a blend of industrial and minimal techno. looking forward to future visits when i'm in town. bartender noticed i was nodding off at one point (embarrassing, i wasn't trashed i was just getting tired) and they prodded me and gave me a glass of water.

This is a fairly unremarkable underground bar on King - until the music starts. Having renovated during the pandemic, Bambi's has a Function One sound system with really great sound, and great promoters to provide the music. Do not miss out on any Hypnotic Mindscapes event here, they're true Toronto flavor, and one of the best! 😁

This place is Toronto's version of a Japanese style listening bar. A music appreciators solution to a low key dance party night without all the hassle of going to a full scale nightclub. I feel like after visiting this place I never need to throw a private DJ party in my living room ever again when I can just go to Bambi's and have the same private intimate feel with a full professional event staff. They have a decent drink menu too because all the west end breweries are nearby. It's unique hidden gem venues like this that give Toronto it's cool neighborhood feel and I hope this place continues to operate for the next generation to experience. This place hasn't been reviewed much because it's small so I gotta do this place a solid. Other countries in the world have bars like this. You show up, they have a live DJ playing interesting music and everybody just hangs out and enjoys the music and there's a bar there. The focus is actually mainly on the music, not disco lights, not on the rave element, just some low simulation lighting and a clear sound system. It's a step above a lounge because it's mostly a dance floor with some seating but it's much less of a commitment than hitting Coda which is a full on night club rave. This is the spot you take a girl who likes edm who wants to dance after the date but isn't prepared to hit a full on nightclub or doesn't have the energy to. This concept I think goes over most people's heads because they walk into this place and it's neither a normal Toronto pub bar with a dancefloor, not quite a resto lounge, not quite a full on nightclub, not even quite an afterhours so the customers have trouble pinpointing how to feel about it. I've lived in nightclubs so I've seen this formula before and can explain why it's been a longstanding venue in Toronto. Any negative reviews about this place are trying to compare it to the other massive nightclubs in Toronto or places that are full force nightclubs. Bambi's is not designed to be a massive nightclub, it's like a listening club at best because the DJ's play interesting electronic genres that are designed for a small lounge like that. Not every edm venue in Toronto has to have laser beams, fog machines, and strobe lightings to make it danceable. This place has a cult following specifically because it's not too clubby. This is the bar you go to when you want to hear a professional DJ play a dancey lounge set but you don't want to fully commit to going to Rebel or a King street club. There's no line up and usually no cover other so it's also very low cost. If you're a girl and want to go dancing but don't want to wear heels or even really dress up you can just go there and hang out and hear some non mainstream edm which is refreshing. They also renovated this place after the pandy so it's pretty clean and minimal now. There's four gender neutral bathrooms with no mirrors in them, just a cool minimal slit LED light built into the wall. This place I think is also lgbtq friendly and I can see why, the bouncers are super easy going, you can wear whatever you want, you can even go to the 711 across the street and get cigarettes and walk back in without any hassle. No other dance club in Toronto will just let you freely walk out and do whatever you want like that. Just like your living room you can come and go as you please. To discuss the music, they had somebody playing german minimal dub tech and disco the entire night. Even Coda won't play music that chill because their capacity is 500 people and they need to keep the music reasonably hype or on trend to serve a commercial audience. Bambi's is a true listening bar because it's small enough where the DJ can play something really weird and the dance floor won't be booing if it's something they haven't heard before. I've lived in Toronto my whole life and didn't go there until way later I feel like I missed out. Comfort Zone and Vertigo are full on afterhours techno dungeons where you're trying to rage until 7AM. Bambi's is like I want a private living room dance party vibe where I can even just sit and listen to the music if I want and nobody is gonna bug me if I don't buy more bottles or just want to quietly enjoy the music and sit. Responses to other viewers. I'm pretty sure they fixed whatever 2012 ventilation system issue cuz it was super well ventilated in there, even the bathrooms were super well ventilated. They heavily expanded the drink menu, also cuz I think Toronto microbrewery laws improved. If this place ever gets packed yeah it'll be full because it's a small room but go figure. Free water by the bar is a major plus because most afterhours charge $5 a bottle. Keep up the great work Bambi's staff. You're a perfect example of how being a smaller venue with a unique offering and a cult following can bring you long term sustainable success.

If I could give this place a lower rating I would. I have never been so disgusted and insulted in my life. My friend and I, two 29 year old adults, decided to meet up with friends at Bambi's for the end of the night. It was exactly 12 minutes til 2 am and they were still serving so having spent cover already we wanted a couple drinks. I ordered a rum and coke and whiskey and coke for my friend. The bartender made them. I think her name was Catherine as I had asked the other bartender and who knows if that was truthful. Then I asked "Catherine" for two polar bear shots as I just can't do anything too strong and it was nearing the end of the night. She pointed to the fact that there were so many people and I said "Ok Bailey's?". I just wanted anything that wasn't vodka or whiskey and such. With that she responded by taking both of our drinks away and did not let us drink them or purchase anything else. Once we got to the other bartender she said "Sorry it's passed last call" and refused to serve us. I was speaking calmly this whole time but apparently somehow "Do I need to call security?" was warranted. We were so shocked of how we were treated so we spoke to the manager, who said he didn't see it so he couldn't do anything about it. He ended up giving the money we spent on cover back however our night was completely ruined. I understand that this is not my type of place to begin with but no one deserves to be treated that way. Ever.

There's a new bar on the every growing Dundas strip. Bambi's is downstairs on the Southeast corner of Dovercourt and Dundas, across from the 24 hour 7-11 and just on the edge of the strip of bars that spills over from Ossington. Owner, Mikey Apples, has been a fixture on the Queen West scene for years and Bambi's has been packed since opening as a result. It feels pretty cavernous for a small, dank bar and the dance floor forms easily and early. It gets really hot in there, like sauna hot, but it just keeps the crowd drinking. They have a nice selection of micro beers and a never ending supply of Jameson. It fits in nicely with Red Light and Camp 4 just down the road and it's a hop skip an a jump to Unlovable on the Dundas West shuffle. No cover, no bullshit. Just good music and good peeps.

I have gone to many places along DWest and QWest and this is a small venue which is fine. BUT be careful! For some dumb reason, they have an open pitcher of water at the bar for water consumption at night and it is situated at the very back of the venue/bar counter. I had a friend who asked for water, and after a patron poured her some due to the crowd in the way, apparently ingested some date rape drug that someone put in the water. Since it is dark inside and the open pitcher of water is at the very back of the venue, this place is an easy place to have a female drugged. Untill they remove the open water jug (which is placed conveniently in the back end of venue) which attracts date rape drug use, I cannot recommend ANY female come here. Police were notified and I would not be surprised if there have been other victims who have not come forward. BEWARE! DATE RAPIST HEAVEN here... Remember, DO NOT take any drink from any one anywhere unless it is from the bartender.

This is going to be a lazy review because I don't think much of Bambi's. The bad: Small Dank Cash only (with a conveniently located ATM near the bathroom to increase revenue) Limited drink selection Bad music Worse "DJ" Did I mention dank and small? Possibly a "goth" bar but I'm not sure if they've self styled it that way or it's just local chatter. If it is supposed to be then it's about as goth as a rainbow. The good: There wasn't any. Caveat: Anna V. and I have drastically different tastes in pretty much everything so if you like the places she recommends then you will probably like Bambi's a lot. If however your tastes are more aligned with mine you will probably hate this place and never go back. That's not meant to be a shot at anyone I just want to put my review in context.

Great but SMALL venue for some of the very best electronic events and dance parties. For the serious house / techno heads. Slightly grimy bar/club vibe, but that's what you want for this music. The only problem: it's too small. When it hits capacity you simply can't get it. It sorely needs an expansion, but I don't think that will ever happen. Bouncers have the terrible job of telling people that they'll never make it inside. They do this do this honestly and respectfully.

Came here for karaoke on a Wednesday. VIBE Basement bar. More people were wearing tuques than not; interesting choice given it was pretty toasty in there. Patrons were super friendly and down to share the mic with basically everybody else. Bartender was smiley. Karaoke dudes were nice, even played one more song after they were about to pack up when we pleaded 'It's his birthday!" Lots of good will going on. LIBATIONS On tap, they have only Mill St Organic and Mill St Tankhouse. Interesting choice. Pints are a reasonable $6.

Just have to say, "Eric M" is so off base with his review of this neighborhood gem that I can only believe he's a rival bar that's bitter about how well this place does at giving me and loads of other regulars a great time, every time. It's laughable in fact. "Worse DJ"? This spot has always been more legit and on point with it's music bookings than pretty much every other spot I've frequented (I'm out a lot). During Pride they hosted Horse Meat Disco, The Scissor Sisters djing...I guess internationally acclaimed talent doesn't cut it for an expert like Eric. Cash only is not uncommon in most small bars and having an ATM on site is a convenience I appreciate. The bartenders make solid classic cocktails and there's plenty of beer from low to high end. Dank. Hardly. It's cozy and will feel even more so in winter w all of the stone walls. Small? It's bigger than most of the bars on the strip. This guy is on crack. I've been in enough that the staff knows what I drink, and they always greet me w a warmth that other "cool" bars are missing This spot is a very different, very unique experience compared to most other places on offer in the city. Don't let one completely ridiculous and biased piss-take turn you away. Sorry Eric, but I had to defend this place. Everyone's entitled to they're opinion no doubt, but you know you're full of it. Lots of fun to come with a group of friends! Free licorice that double as a straw for your drink, if you're into that kind of thing (I am). Fun dancing area, cheap drinks, friendly service. Great on Tuesday nights, and fun on the weekend also. The only problem I would say is that I went here this past Saturday around midnight and it honestly didn't even look half full and yet some of the people in our party couldn't get in because they were supposedly at capacity, which seemed very strange considering the fact that it didn't look it at all. We asked the manager who said that capacity was 30 people which seemed really odd, I know it's small but really 30 people?? Anyway my friends waited 5 minutes and got in. We were considering going to Get Well instead but the line was down the street.
