Went to check Out the Phone Bar. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice place to take photos and has a nice history. My husband and I had one drink each at the phone bar.Drink was good. Like other reviews on here staff is not so attentive inside the bar,I had to go look for my server to get the check. Other than that it was a nice place.

A really fun and historical hotel. It is a bit weary but it really does not matter. It was a fun place to stay. The staff were great, the telephone bar made tasty drinks and the breakfast buffet had lots of choices. Give it a go as there are so few hotels left that share such an interesting history.
It was a bit noisy at night
so ask for a quiet room.

Just here to confirm other reviews: wonderful hotel with beautiful lobby, great service, and ideal location for a Mexico City trip, plus quite affordable.  The downside is that the rooms are incredibly outdated.  Not dirty or riddled with bugs or anything so bad, just very old and falling apart a bit.  (Old carpet, old fixtures, some caulking issues in the tub and bathroom sink).  I stayed for four nights and found the bed comfortable and clean.  No issues outside of the aesthetics.  Location and price made the room quality tolerable.  Proceed how you wish.

Absolutely beautiful hotel! I only docked a star because the rooms need a little updating and maybe a deep clean. There were a few stains on the carpet and the beds are very wobbly. The hotel is historic and beautiful, make sure you allow time to explore all the parts of the hotel. The room I was most excited about seeing was off-limits due to lots of private parties so I’m sad I didn’t get to see it, but I will definitely be back. Pretty reasonably close proximity to public transit, and we are New Yorkers so we were happy to walk to lots of nearby museums and sites. Highly recommend this famous place!

It is a favorite hotel of mine. Historically significant. Comfy beds and bath. Close to Insurgentes metro and metrobus. In Zona Rosa, not Roma though. I've walked to Arena Mexico and to Roma and to Reforma from it. Nice gym. Great lobby and cocktail bar.

As a Professional Traveler, This is the Worst I've Ever Seen I spend roughly 250 nights a year in hotels. I have a very clear and experienced benchmark for what constitutes a 5-star property. Let me be unequivocal: this hotel is not a 5-star. It is, in fact, the single worst accommodation I have experienced in years of constant travel. The service was an absolute masterclass in incompetence. The staff's laziness was breathtaking. My five separate requests for an iron, each met with an empty promise and no delivery, is a perfect symbol of their total disregard for guests. The room was appalling. Beyond the tatty, almost broken-down furniture, I found bugs. This is an unforgivable failure of basic hygiene. The bar was sticky and foul, and the food was so bad it was inedible. For anyone who values their time and money, avoid this place. It is a fraudulent claim on a luxury experience and a genuine blight on the hospitality industry. It doesn't deserve 1 star but yelp doesn't allow zero stars

just now New I will never ever stay here!! I felt and feel like I'm walking on eggshells. I have to call the lobby and ask for permission "can I turn my tv on" apparently I'm making too much noise when I haven't even been in my room and when I do they call and "threaten me" to kick me out. First off as a general manager you would think as your job to come and talk to me and tell me what's the issue before accusing and assuming. This is by far the worse hotel. A side from that the restrooms don't work and water leaking everywhere. Yet they're so quick to complain about non sense. Over priced and over rated! Customer service sucks. All the money they take in you would think they would have better quality and treat ppl better.

STAY AWAY!! I made a reservation to stay here, then was hospitalized at home. For 2 weeks, I wrote them emails--no response. No phone number to call. Finally, when the day of check-in came, I wrote once more that I was recuperating. They refused to refund ANY of the money. If you decide to stay here, make sure you don't change your mind!! LOSERS!!

My husband booked this hotel online. They are able to check you in 24/7 and they had security. We arrived at 3:30 am and someone was there to check us in. The hotel is gorgeous. The rooms are small but it is an old hotel. There was nothing wrong with the room itself. They had a quiet area it's outside where you can read. The front is pretty big and a lot of people hang out there have a coffee and read. They had a really nice restaurant and inside the hotel and another on the side. They also had a really nice bar. There's tons of restaurants and shopping all around. There's a ton of coffee shops within a block. The person who cleaned our room was amazing. We overall had a great experience and would return just based on location

We stayed for three nights last weekend. The house keeping stole my jewelry. They swapped out my pearls with fake ones. My boyfriend put the do not clean hanger on the door and the proceeded to take it off, enter the room, "clean" anyways and steal the pearls that my grandmothers leant me for the trip. I didn't realize they had been switched till we got home. Secondly, we booked a king bed and they were "out" so they gave us a room with two, rock hard twins for three nights! Bonus points for the filthy carpets and the warm and foul smelling mini fridges and black mold in the bathroom. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else if you would rather feel safe and like your things will not be violated and touched! Thanks Hotel Geneve, 5 stars on google is an absolute joke by the way

*Avoid This Hotel at All Costs!** Rude dirty unsafe environment. Unaccomodating, Terrible place to stay. We ended up booking a hotel elsewhere.

The hotel appears grand and luxurious, but unfortunately that was not our experience. Our room was dirty. It does not appear they deep clean the rooms and bathrooms as we found stains on the toilet, hair on the floor and in the tub, stains and hairs on the bed covers. Carpet was worn and dirty. We were disgusted! The energy is strong. Not necessarily bad, but if you easily get scared I would not recommend this hotel. We definitely encountered some paranormal activity. Walking down the hall we heard and saw some doors move, no one in sight. One night, in the middle of the night, things sitting on the nightstand fell to the floor. Historical hotel! The lobby is beautiful and great for pictures. We enjoyed walking around and learning about its history and former guests. Great location.

This is a must-stay hotel if you are traveling to Mexico City. It was stunning, central to so many restaurants and night life, in a safe, cool neighborhood and home to the grooviest bar. Plus, it wasn't even expensive. The highpoint in lodging for our trip was Geneve.

My girl and I have passed the most wonderful time at this hotel. We have been here for nearly two weeks already, and it's definitely the most beautiful hotel that I have ever stayed in- in my life! We really had no idea about how great this place really is when we made the reservation, but to call it extravagant would be an understatement. Every single part of this hotel is amazing! We learned that this hotel was established 116 years ago, and it is the first hotel in Mexico City that had an elevator and barber shop. We tried the restaurant one evening, and it was also fantastic. Everything from the actually room, the awesome service, and ambiance is something that you would be hard-pressed to find pretty much anywhere. If I could give this hotel 10 stars I would!
