Rooms and location are pretty nice but that's it unfortunately.
The pictures are better then the reality.
High prices.
But what really bothered me is some staff I encountered.
I was confused about the pricing and no one explained me that they add the tax in the end and I got ignored by the barkeepers after asking for my change. No explanation of their system.
Then when they handed out their welcoming drinks I asked if we could drink them on a different table as the table where they wanted us was already completely occupied.. and somehow they said no we can't do this.
Obviously I got a bit upset about that and then the manager just yapped at me that if I don't like it I could leave their place..
This is very unprofessional and I feel like unacceptable on a place which calls themselves a lodge.

Near perfect. By far, it's one of the best resorts I've stayed! Friendly staff, quality comfortable beds, quiet, secluded getaway, great food, and beautiful beach! Solo travelers, any traveler, follow instructions and try arriving before nightfall. I got lost in the jungle -- fault of my own, not following directions. Thank God I saw "a light." It's a reason and extremely important to do as the check-in process suggests -- call and inform the resort of your ETA and they will meet you at the dock to escort you if necessary. If I make it sound complicated, it's NOT!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this accommodation and will visit again AND follow the instructions. Thanks to Pablo the manager, and all other staff for calming me and making my stay a wonderful experience.

Really good, spacious and clean dorms. Food was really good there, however prices stated on the menu apparently do not include VAT (there is no mention of this on the menu), therefore upon checking out, an additional 7% is charged on everything you buy, making an already expensive restaurant even more expensive, especially for backpackers. Some more transparency would have been nice as this hasn’t happened to us anywhere else in Panama.

A piece of paradise! Great lodge on a unique location, in the jungle right in front of a magnificent beach. Waking up with the sound of birds and monkeys. Peace and quiet all around. And with a great staff (Eloy in the bar), service and quality of food. Could recommend anyone!

Beautiful location on the beach and incredibly friendly and helpful staff! We were all glad that we found Palmar. Thanks for a great stay!

Just be aware that the hotel is located a 10-15 minute walk from the dock on a sand/dirt road through the jungle. We were advised that women shouldn’t take this path alone at night. You may also see caimans (small crocodiles)
