On the evening of August 27, 2024, I had the pleasure of dining at a canto, a hidden gem in Osaka renowned for its exquisite culinary offerings. Nestled at a quaint corner of the city, the intimate atmosphere was perfectly complemented by our cozy table by the window, allowing for an unobstructed view of the night’s unfolding elegance.

The reservation process was seamless, and the staff’s command of English made our experience all the more enjoyable. The nine-course tasting menu unfolded over two and a half hours, each dish a testament to the artistry and precision that garnered this establishment its prestigious Michelin star.

Two standout dishes truly redefined our expectations. The first, steamed mussels in Panciacorta, was a revelation. These succulent morsels were a symphony of rich, tender flesh, each bite an exquisite exploration of flavor. Describing the texture as merely “pleasant” would be an understatement; it was a luxurious mouthfeel that resonated with the gentle notes of saffron and mint, inviting us to savor each subsequent bite. This dish was not merely an appetizer—it was a captivating prologue to a culinary journey.

However, it was the Bavettini pasta that truly captivated our senses. Upon its arrival, we were greeted by an exhilarating burst of lime that filled the air, a prelude to the visual feast that lay before us. Wonderful experience!

Italian cuisine is also one of our favourites and it’s amazing to find the elevated version of it here in Japan. It was fun to do the wine pairings and learn about interesting wines from their knowledgeable and friendly sommelier and server. The menu was excellent and made fresh just for us. The restaurant has only 4 - 6 seats so it felt like private dining. The chef worked non-stop and even made the stuffed ravioli on the spot! The menu worked up to an outstanding veal marsala and mushroom course and ended with tasty gelato and biscotti.

Highly recommend if looking for some variety during your holiday.

Absolutely fantastic. Completely worthy of its Michelin Star. The food, service and seating were perfect. The sommelier is also great as pairing the wines. Fully recommend
