Michelin Star Restaurant… How?

I visited this Michelin-starred restaurant with high expectations, and while the food was generally excellent, the experience was marred by a few notable issues.

First, let’s address the Thai tea. I’ve been to several well-regarded Thai restaurants in Seoul, and all of them serve Thai tea from a can. This is surprising given how simple it is to prepare Thai tea from scratch using sweetened condensed milk, spices, and black tea. The canned version just doesn't do justice to the authentic flavor.

Another concern is the menu. It’s quite limited and seems to cater more to local tastes rather than offering a true representation of Thai cuisine. When dining at a foreign restaurant, I expect to experience authentic dishes, not Thai-inspired Korean fare.

Lastly, the restaurant’s interior is somewhat disappointing. The tables are covered with plastic tablecloths that are more reminiscent of street food stalls in Thailand than of a Michelin-starred establishment. While this detail might be overlooked in a more casual setting, it feels out of place in a restaurant that boasts such prestigious accolades.

Overall, while the food was good, these issues impacted my overall experience.

The crispy pork was amazing, but I wasn't a huge fan of the yellow curry with crab.

Honestly not too bad! I can see why they're on the Michelin bib gourmand list. Had the pad thai and prawn cakes. Pad Thai was pretty decent but the flavors like sweet, sour, spicy were far less pronounced compared to the dish made in Thailand. Not that it's bad! It suits the tastes here in Seoul I guess. I would say it's a more homogenous flavor with good texture as well.

The prawn cakes were a tad disappointing for me. Me love me prawn cakes and I love them to be nearly 100% prawn! But theirs seems to be mostly filler meat like fish or squid paste. Maybe some flour too? The prawn flavor is there but the texture was to uniform! No chunky crunchy prawn bits.

Service is pretty good tho! And they have English speaking staff and English descriptions in the menu so it was pretty fuss free. You make your orders via the tablet on the table so its wonderful.

Oh seems like there aren't any desserts on the menu. Some mango sticky rice or red ruby would be good too.

Will definitely head back when I'm craving thai food!

A decent joint with good service, polite staff and warm atmosphere. The place was packed and people were lining up outside. Ordered the beef noodle soup, tom yum noodle, spring rolls and the som tam. The portions were to huge for us. I saw the other guests could finish only half of their bowls. A heads up would do fine before ordering, in order to prevent wasting food. Like many other places, they might have modified the dishes to fit the taste buds of the local customers. The foods were "okay". I liked the spring rolls. Maybe the beef noodle soup need some extra bean sprouts. The broth was good, with that hint of peanut flavor. I guess the "Michelin" plaques gave me high expectations. Definitely a "one time" visit place

Some of the best Thai food you can get in Seoul. Sadly is not as authentic as it could be. For me personally the food was hwavily altered to fit the locals taste. But the place seems to be a thing here, had to queue for a table for 2 on a random Thursday afternoon. I ordered the pad thai and short ribs rice noodles. Pad thai had a sort of ketchup taste to it. Short ribs noodles was well balanced. Did not expect to be given a canned milk tea when i ordered one and so, i was a bit disappointed. Price was okay for Seoul standard despite me having it way cheapers elsewhere. Would not come back though, hut definitely an experience eating here.
