Unbelievable experience! My husband and I have visited a couple of months ago, it was amazing!

The food is spectacular, the service is very smooth and personalized!

The interior design looks just so elegant! Impressive!

I had an extraordinary alcohol-free wine tasting menu!

It was just unforgettable! We will return here 100%!

Gasthaus Zum Kreuz was the highlight of our dining journey through Europe. On this particular occasion, we chose this restaurant for a 50th birthday celebration and it was one of the best choices we have ever made.

It is a beautiful restaurant that exuded a comforting, old school charm of Europe with a beautiful interior tucked in the lovely hills of Switzerland, both calm and serene.  A short 20 - 30 minute train ride from the heart of Lucerne.

As patrons approach the historic restored building, they will feel like they are walking into a fairy tale where the restaurant is housed in what seems to be a quaint little house from a story book.  Upon entering, the restaurant is meticulously set up to offer tradition coupled with elegance. Everything from the wood stained ceilings, to wooden chairs and benches, white table cloth, antler chandeliers and natural lighting exudes a welcoming, high end experience.

The service is exceptional from the warm greeting at the door to the detailed explanation of every delicious cuisine that was served.  Cared for by two servers who was always very friendly and cordial.  They were so happy at their job and so patient with two out of towners.  We were fortunate enough to get a visit from Chef Dietmar Sawyere and his lovely wife Nicole who were the nicest and most down to earth people we have ever met.  It was a true honor for us and made our visit even more memorable.

Impeccable service, beautiful environment, etc. but what of the food?  We’ve only been to a handful of Michelin Star restaurants and are very picky with our meals but I am happy to report that Gasthaus Zum Kreuz has some of the best food we have ever experienced.  They offer a 5 course, 6 course or 7 course meal.  Since it was our first visit, we started off slow with the 5 course meal which proved to be more than enough food as their portions are very generous. There have been several occasions where we have attended fine dining establishments only to supplement our meal later in the evening with something a bit more feeling.  However, this was NOT the case at Gasthaus Zum Kreuz, as we left feeling quite full and very content!

One of the many highlights to this restaurant is that all their products are locally sourced.  Every meat, vegetable, cheese, chocolates and all ingredients to their sauces are all grown or produced in the many Cantons of Switzerland and the servers seem to know where each item comes from.

In summary, Gasthaus Zum Kreuz is one of the best restaurants in the world in all aspects, from environment, service but most importantly, food!  It was a once in a lifetime experience that we will strive to revisit.  Thank you to Chef Dietmar, Thank you Nicole and thank you to the entire staff!  BRAVO!!!

Outstanding dinner experience, definitely one of our best ever. The 6 course menu is a real delight, takes your taste buds for a ride (even the sweets were out of this world).

True locally sourced products, outstanding execution, great wines and warm service & atmosphere.

The owners changed this year, so I gave it a try!
The evening was very nice, summery, the terrace was inviting. Unfortunately, you can't eat outside, which is a shame, especially since it was extremely hot in the restaurant. But also very nicely decorated inside!

There are surprise menus, a somewhat tedious circumstance always having to call what is currently on the menu.

The menu was very expensive for the goods that were offered! Since I only eat in Michelin star restaurants, I was very surprised! There's nothing wrong with working towards a star, but there's still a long way to go, that's for sure.
