We visited this place a few days back. It is very futuristic and unlike any architectural building I have seen till now. The glistening oval shape attracts attention when you pass by it on Sheik Zayed Road.

I was under an impression that it was designed by Zaha Hadid. But later found out that it is by a well known local firm. The interior is magnificient. The large open atrium you enter into is awe-inspiring with calligraphic inscriptions everywhere and modulating light constantly shinning through it. The original quotes of the calligraphy mentioned there are encouraging humanity to do more in life.

I felt the science fiction story of getting recruited in a space craft or something like that was not necessary. The initial time spent in downloading the app, going through the space shuttle and other rooms, spends a lot of your time, if you have only 2 hours there, leaving less time for really worth seeing items in the end.

The gallery with glass bottles and various genes of speices which you could scan and know more about was fascinating. The view on the deck, with sourroundings and the building looming over your, was marvellous. The experience in the vertical elevators was exhilarating.

You probably need a full day here if you are to enjoy each and every exhibit. However if you have less time, you can go through the initial exhibits fast and spend more time towards the later part.

The museum building itself is impressive, with striking futuristic architecture. The main hall and lobby are visually captivating as well. However, the content offered by the museum simply isn’t worth the 41€ ticket price. Despite having booked tickets online, we waited in line for about 20 minutes.

Upon entering, we experienced an elevator designed to simulate a space shuttle, but honestly, it wasn’t anything special—the screens displayed drone footage or mediocre animations. The fifth floor felt notably empty and lacked meaningful exhibits. On the fourth floor, the DNA-themed section was visually interesting, as the floating lamps created an illusion of levitation. The third floor was dedicated to meditation, which I couldn’t relate to the futuristic theme at all. The second floor displayed a flying taxi, drone, and robot vacuum cleaner—technologies that are already outdated or widely available. Finally, the first floor was designed for children, yet didn’t offer anything particularly innovative.

On a positive note, I’d like to commend the staff at the luggage storage area. They were extremely polite, pleasant, and professional.

Overall, while the museum looks impressive from the outside, the exhibits themselves fall short, and I expected far more for the price paid.

This landmark building and attractions in it are well worth the visit. The outside is a striking  structure on the outside and unique space on the inside.
The experience is not of a traditional museum per se, but more of a tourist attraction revolving around a made up story of visiting the future and it is focused on a few aspects of the theme- environment,  ecology and with technology mostly as a background.  This may be appealing to some guests,  but the building and the observation deck will be a good reason to visit to all. I would recommend an early arrival and buying tickets in advance as lines get quite long at noon.

The museum of future is interesting, a tad bit entertaining but falls short of describing anything futuristic. Most, if not all of what was presented are things that happen today like being in a space station (common on, we don’t need to go to 2071 for that!!), or healing the planet with carbon reduction and connecting mind/ body (as my 7 year old challenged rightly, what is calming your mind or connecting your body and mind have to do with the future!!).

I was expecting to be wowed by things that I would not imagine today, but will happen in the future. It fell short of my expectations. While the theme was 2071, I felt the displays barely extrapolated today’s life 10-15 years into the future.

On a positive note, the displays were great, the museum architecture itself was spectacular and the robot dog was entertaining. Unlike other museums I have been to in the US and other parts of the western world, this one didn’t have a clear theme and message and lacked depth throughout. The museum staff are also not very deep in their own knowledge, they were merely reading out of a script. This was consistent with what I observed in the aquarium in Dubai as well. Most can describe the exhibit but don’t know anything beyond on the subject.

Overall, slightly entertaining for the kids but a little shallow, all over the place and very much in the present. Sorry MOFT, this needs more work!
