Ocean Beach is always a great destination to visit if you're from out of town. The pier is always a great place to go and visit. If you like people watching this, it is an excellent location for that. You can go out and watch the Surfers take on the big the big waves. Unfortunately, on this visit, the pier was closed due to some heavy storm activity that did some damage and was unsafe for public passage. There's plenty to see around Ocean Beach Pier. There's plenty of thrift shops, restaurants and activities to do around the pier. Not too far from the pier is dog beach if you have your Sidekick with you. Enjoy your day at the Ocean Beach pier. Today was a perfect day. It was a nice vool at 72*f. Came late in the day around 5. Watch the lifeguard and pick up all the cones. People flying kits. And yes crazy 🤪 and weird Californian lol.  😉 I brought my dad to enjoy OB ⛱️ Beach. Plenty of bathroom, restaurants and late night BBQ.

The pier itself is closed. You can only stand on the beginning portion. From this portion of the pier, there are stairs to go down to the beach. On the pier you can get some great photos and a nice view of the sunset. The pier is kind of gross. I often want to power wash it when I'm standing on it. You may encounter some homeless people and their dogs. The homeless population here is pretty pleasant. I only mention to warn those who may have some overwhelming guilt when in such company. If you walk down the stairs and turn to face the beach to your left, is a walkway path that ends at some rocks. I've enclosed some pictures. It's a beautiful scene. Lovely at sunset. Just know you're going to share that space with some weed smokers.
If, after coming down the stairs and facing the beach, you go to your right, you're headed to the beach and the sidewalk area with vendors. The vendors are a hippie bunch, so it's crystals and some art that is mostly for sale. I've also enclosed some pictures. If you keep walking, there is a grass area to the right, and the beach, of course, is on your left. The sand at this portion of the beach is very packed. If you walk way down you'll encounter dog beach. Nice beach but had a hint of pee in the air.

Oh my God I absolutely fell in love with this place if you were in the San Diego area this is where you need to stay and hang out here.

This was so beautiful in so many ways.!

The incredible views of the ocean, of course, and the little street markets that people are selling their little goods was very cute !

Definitely love to come and hang out here in one of the cafés just to be near the ocean as I love the water ! 💦

Highly recommend this place. If you are in this area, I can’t get enough of it.!

Great place to visit if you are in the area. We found they have free parking next to the lifeguard building. You will find many grass-roots vendors on and around the grass. You will see off the grid folks parking their vans to enjoy the view from the comfort of their van. The pier is a walk but worth it. There are all manor of fishermen. You will find cool shops and restaurants at end of the public pier. There is a section beyond the shops that are not open to the public. So if you are walking the pier to get to the end be prepared to be dissappointed. Bonus is that at low tide you can explore the tide pools on the south side of the pier. Tons of little crabs to watch... Very entertaining, especially for kids. The only downside is that the restrooms clearly do not get cleaned. It was incredibly horrific. But everything else was so pleasant that it didn't bother us much.
