Honestly I have never gave a review to any place ever but I guess I should make that one of my resolutions after my time at this wonderful establishment last night! I like to do my due diligence and research spots before going somewhere and this spot was recommended by many. Marvin was so amazing and it was entertaining hearing him recommend drinks to other patrons and be so knowledgeable on anything alcohol related! Both of the drinks I ordered were amazing and I would recommend this spot to both lifelong New Yorkers and tourists if you’re into cocktails.

I live on the West Coast, but I was told Death & Co. is a place I needed to visit on my next stay in NYC. I made reservations for a Sunday night. The vibe is very dark and intimate. The bar is staffed with very competent and creative mixologists. They know their craft and make an effort to be personable and knowledgeable. I had a Tripwire, and my wife had the Cornicello. We both enjoyed our respective drinks very much, hers on the sweeter side, mine a bit more spirit forward, but well-balanced. The bartender acknowledged the anniversary we had listed on the reservation and volunteered to make us a special drink to celebrate. I told him how she prefers her cocktails, and he improvised a nice celebratory drink on the spot. It was great, but more importantly, attentiveness and engagement are what made a lasting impression in the moment. High marks all around!

Det var en liten och mysig plats. Mycket läckra drinkar. Vi fick rätt in och servern var hjälpsam med menyn. Skulle säkerligen komma tillbaka igen.

Tjänsten var fantastisk här. Vi var tvungna att vänta ett tag på ett bord, men när vi en gång satt oss såg vi allt vi kunde ha behövt.
Parabola-cocktail var inte för mig, men vi försökte ett antal fantastiska cocktails inklusive Thunderstruck, vilket är bra om du gillar fruktigt men punchigt.

Först känner du att du har gått in i en hemlig klubb när du går in i denna mörka och pittoreska bar. Mixologerna i baren är roliga och engagerande och kommer att förklara alla deras underbara cocktails till dig. De har skapat några av de bästa cocktailsna i över ett decennium. Jag väntade länge på att besöka denna bar och jag blev inte besviken. Detta var en av höjdpunkterna på min resa!

De tre komponenterna i en fantastisk cocktailbar är: bra cocktails, bra atmosfär och bra service.

Death & Co. spikade den första, levererade den andra och föll ganska kort på den tredje.

Cocktailerna är första klass. Jag har boken och jag har gjort hemma 80 + recept från den. De flesta av dem är fantastiska och många sublima.

Atmosfären är vad du kan förvänta dig, så inga klagomål där.

Tjänsten är en annan historia. Jag anlände till 6 på en torsdag, med mer än hälften av platsen fortfarande tom och drygt hälften av barstolarna tagna. Nu är jag en introvert och i allmänhet glad över att bli ensam, men jag tycker om enstaka chatt med någon som vet mycket mer om det hantverk som jag någonsin kunde sträva efter. Ingen sådan chans här.

Först attityden. De två bartendrarna var mycket mer intresserade av att chatta med varandra än att engagera besökarna, till den punkten att det var väl omöjligt att få sin uppmärksamhet för att beställa en annan drink (jag tror inte att det är nödvändigt att räcka handen eller ropa utom i en Sport bar… ) .

För det andra, och ännu mer nedslående, skickligheten. Min första drink var en mescal - framåt, läcker tippel (kallas "Full Disclosure"). För mitt andra bad jag om rekommendationer för något som skulle vara svårt att göra hemma och slutade med en vermouth - tung, låg - ABV-cocktail, som - även om den är behörig i sig själv - aldrig skulle ha följt min första order baserad på smakprogression eller vad jag redan hade avslöjat om mina gillar.

Jag kommer att fortsätta använda boken - förmodligen min favorit bland några dussin som jag äger - men det finns vänligare barer i NY och runt om i världen med lika bra drycker om du ska investera tid / pengar.

När du försöker hitta platsen kan du bara gå förbi den. Leta efter killen som står utanför med en anteckningsblock för att checka in. ID-kort är nödvändiga för att komma in. Menyn med drycker är större än vad jag någonsin sett och har cocktails som du aldrig har hört talas om.

Vi hade en fantastisk upplevelse! Värden före var artig och vänlig. Vi satt vid bordet först. Vår server Mike var mycket kunniga och uppmärksamma. Han promenerade oss genom menyn och hjälpte min vän att välja cocktail baserat på hennes preferenser. Cocktailen var perfekt! Min vän njöt verkligen av det. När några barstolar blev tillgängliga flyttades vi till baren. Vår bartender Sam var stor! Han var kunnig, vänlig och gjorde läckra cocktails! ! !

Efter år av att vilja här, hade jag äntligen den perfekta möjligheten en dag i NYC ensam. Jag Uber'd över och dörrmannen med iPad hittade ett enda ställe i baren. Bartender kom omedelbart med menyn. Jag beställde två bourbon-baserade drycker. Den första var Bloodstone. Bra balanserad. Något sött, men inte för mycket. Efter det första bad bartendern för mina gillar och ogillar och föreslog en av menydryck. Återigen välbalanserad och på punkt. Interiören var mindre och mörkare än jag trodde. Men jag skulle gå igen för några fler omgångar.

När din personal är mer intresserad av sig själv att dina gäster har du ett problem. Om du ska hålla en tjej på dörren med en iPad, måste du vara smidig och leverera. Vila på dina laureller, tror att du är bäst. Du har förlorat det. Vad synd. Med en förändring av attityd kan denna bar vara stor. Ha ett ord, tack Death och Co.

Vi gillade atmosfären i denna speakeasy bar inte trångt eller högt, mycket bekväma och svagt upplysta. Dryckerna smaka bra vi hade järnväg, blod och svart spets (mina två favoriter) och hon hade pärlduckerskaj och Champagne-cocktail senare hon älskade mycket. Sammantaget skulle vi komma tillbaka som du kan berätta för dryckerna är gjorda med omtanke!

Min vän och jag kom hit för en drink. Det fanns en väntelista, så jag lägger mitt namn på det. Ungefär en timme efter att jag sätter ner mitt namn, skrev de mig att ett bord var klart, så vi gick över. Flickan vid dörren var mycket vänlig. Servern var riktigt trevlig och gav oss ett ögonblick att titta över den omfattande menyn. Jag kan inte komma ihåg vad någon av oss beställde men de var båda riktigt bra. Det är litet och pittoreskt inuti. Jag rekommenderar starkt denna plats!

Först av allt, killen på framsidan vem tar listan över väntande var riktigt oförskämda. . . Jag vet inte om det är en av deras marknadsföringsstrategi arrogans så folk kanske tror det här stället är så hippa? ! Ändå varje cocktail platser runt området var fullsatt så vi åkte död&Co efter 30 minuter av väntar. Deras cocktailmeny var det ganska experimentell som jag kan inte tänka mig vad denna cocktail skulle smakar som. Och stället var så högljutt med musik och människor. Så om du vill ha någonstans du kan coola och har samtal med killar, det här stället skulle inte vara det svar.

Drinkarna var fantastisk och baren är mycket mysigt. Vi åkte dit på en rekommendation från en bartender vän och vi älskade det. Till att dryckerna är lite dyrt men det är värt det.
