Excellent experience. Robbie was a super host have not met anyone as good as him in all our travels. Food excellent and such a range of choice. Brilliant opportunity to savour authentic Moroccan cuisine. Would not hesitate to recommend. Lovely white wine too. A must visit for any tourist to Marrakesh. Do go hungry as so much to sample and enjoy.

Located in the penthouse of the Es Saadi Palace in Marrakech, this restaurant exceptionally channels the Moroccan ambiance of the Palace, and is an architectural masterpiece. Beautiful carved stone mimics lace, as sculpted plaster adorns the columns. The terrace view is a panorama of the lights of West Marrakech, a sight to see in the evening.

I enjoyed a wonderful dinner here with two of my friends. We were thoroughly impressed with the beauty and design of the restaurant, as each intricate detail kept my eyes wandering with amazement. The staff was also delightful, provided prompt service and attending to everything we needed. We were already impressed before we even got to the food!
We ordered an appetizer of briwats, filled with lamb meat. The pastry was flaky and crispy, cooked perfectly, and shaped into the notable triangles. A great contrast to the dough, the lamb filling was soft and tender.

We each ordered a separate tagine, as we wanted to try as many flavors as possible. My friend raved about her beef tagine with aubergine, which I ended up tasting. I’m glad I did! The meat was so tender, and the aubergine wasn’t rubbery or spongy, but melt-in-your-mouth delicious.

My other friend opted for sea bream tagine, and said it was the best tasting fish he has ever had! The chef knew exactly how to cook an already flavorful fish without masking the freshness and taste.

I almost didn’t have enough of my lamb shank tagine left for my friends to taste, as I enjoyed it so much. Seasoned with raisons, date juice and a special Es Saadi Ras El Hanout spice mix, the lamb meat was slow cooked and delicious.

We finished with a delicate milk pastilla, layered with a sweet mix of light cream and rose water. The entire experience was amazing!

Terrible fine dining experience. We have eaten great Moroccan food in Marrakech and wanted to try a “finer” version of it but left disappointed with the food and the service.
The place is gorgeous and the setting is great, specially if you sit in the terrace. The attention is good when you get there but the servers start to forget about you as new guests come in; service was extremely slow, even to get our glasses of water refilled.

There is no guidance on the menu, we ordered (all at once) an appetizer and a lamb shoulder that said it was for two, the server could have warned us that the lamb dish was massive and it was probably enough. The appetizer, a pasta dish in form of pearls with herbs didn’t taste like much, mainly cilantro, but it was supposed to reminisce Italian pesto; not even close.

Then the lamb shoulder: they remove the meat from the bone and put it all in the plates, it ends up looking grotesque as you have a mountain of meat sitting in your plate the whole time. It comes with a serving of couscous so in terms of quantity it is very generous, the problem is that the flavors just were not there, the lamb was cold when it got to our table and it didn’t taste like anything, which is crazy considering it’s supposed to be cooked with saffron.

Pricing was bad for the quality and experience, they charged us for 750ml of water but we never had the bottle with us so we have no idea how much they actually served us, a small glass of Moroccan mint tea was 50 Dirham (~USD 5) but in the menu it had no price as opposed to all the other teas; you would think it would be a courtesy in a place like that, specially since even in the streets they give it for free. It was a deceiving way of listing it and an insanely overpriced tea. The food was too expensive for the quality, and the presentation of dishes was nothing you would expect in a fine dining place like this.

To make things worse, since we left so much lamb we asked for a box to take it home and not throw it away but as we’re about to leave we find out that they had thrown it away. They just said sorry and offered no compensation (it was at least half of the whole dish). This is also the first time I do a bad review so you can imagine how bad it was.

TL;DR: overpriced and awfully presented bland food in a gorgeous setting with slow and subpar service. Spend your money somewhere else.

Absolutely gorgeous with white columns,  giant windows, a view of the Atlas Mountains and the lovely garden,  marble floors, impeccable dining service, and mellow Moroccan music in the background, this is a very romantic place for a fine Moroccan dinner.   We ordered the discovery menu.  It was way too much food.  The tajine for one can totally be shared by 2 people.  The portion is huge and we had to leave half wasted.  What a pity, it was delicious.  I would recommend a bit more vegi in the Tajine dish, otherwise it is too heavy with almost half kg of meat by itself.

Amazing dinner experience. I am celiac and Morocco is not always easy for safe gluten free food: they knew exactly what I needed and helped me with the menu. They also had a lovely little gluten free bread which is the closest to local bread that i've been able to eat. Also a big shout out to the musicians (excellent players for a romantic but authentic atmosphere) and the staff, all so pleasant really.
