So I was invited on a lunch date and this was the chosen venue. Cassia restaurant is situated on the Nitida Wine farm in the heart of the Durbanville Wine Valley.

The restaurant is inside a glass conservatory alongside a lake with outdoor seating as well. Initually, we sat outside to have the view of the lake, which was very pretty and peaceful, but later moved inside as it got a bit chilly..

The food...

The menu was varied, and my date chose the Cassia Pork Belly with fermented soy and ginger glaze, which he seemed to enjoy but also added that the ginger was quite overwhelming but otherwise was enjoyable.

I opted for a smoked chicken salad as I wasn't terribly hungry. It was.. fine,  but not terribly exciting. It would have been nice to have some typical salad ingredients such as tomatoes and cucumbers instead of just lettuce leaves and smoked chicken (I think it might have had some onions in, can't remember) the avocado salad dressing was tasty.

Service...

The restaurant was very quiet for a Saturday with just a few scattered tables, so we were lucky to have very attentive and friendly service.

Overall, it was a really relaxing lunch setting mainly for the view and the company at the time.

It's a beautiful restaurant in a peaceful setting.. would recommend and would return ✨️

Haven't been here since 2019, and it still does not disappoint.
Beautiful restaurant. Friendly welcome, seated quickly, water and coffee served quick sticks.
Comfy seating as well from chairs to couches.
The cappuccinos... delicious.
We ordered bubbles ... yummm.
Breakfast ... the omelets are a great choice with seed loaf.
If they sold the bread, I would've bought a few loafs!

Had an amazing breakfast here.  The food was outstanding and really delicious. The water was very good and the restaurant has the most beautiful outlook. A definite must for a visit.

We sat outside with the amazing view. Food was good. Waiter was very friendly. They will give you a blanked when it gets cold.

I recently visited Cassia in Nitida Wine Farm on the 2/02/2025 and had an overall mixed experience. The restaurant itself has a wonderful ambiance, offering stunning views of the dam and mountains, which made for a very relaxing and picturesque dining setting. The wine we had was delightful, and it paired well with the meal, which was decent, though not outstanding.

The service was okay – our waiter, Christian, was polite but seemed a little detached, and it felt like the overall service could have been more attentive and personable.

However, the biggest letdown of the experience came when we used the bathroom. To our surprise, the toilets were not functioning properly, and there was a sign instructing us on how to flush the toilet using a bucket of water. This was incredibly unhygienic and frankly unacceptable for any restaurant, especially one in such a beautiful setting. It completely ruined the experience and made it difficult to feel comfortable or relaxed after dealing with such a situation.

It’s unfortunate that a place with so much potential is let down by such a basic issue. I hope the management addresses this as it severely impacted our overall experience. Would I return? Maybe, but only if I hear that the bathroom situation has been resolved. To be honest I don't even think they should've been opened from the first place.
