Dear Halo Management,

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent experience at Halo. On Friday, February 8, 2025, I attended the Pandora Awakening pre-party event. My experience was so negative that I will never return to your establishment.

I felt unsafe, shaken, angry, disappointed, sad, and bewildered by the way I was treated. The behavior of the bouncers and general staff (excluding the barmen and DJs) was inhumane, unethical, and driven by toxic masculinity.

I understand that Halo has a policy requiring closed shoes. However, I had just come from a beach cleanup and was promised free tickets by one of the organizers. I was willing to sign a waiver, but was initially denied entry along with two friends.

After returning 30 minutes later, I was granted access. However, the bouncers continued to be confrontational and refused to give their names. One bouncer even bumped into my friend in an attempt to provoke him about 30mins later. My friend let it go and we all removed ourself.

My friends and I can identify the bouncers involved and we request access to the video footage from that night. We are pursuing legal action and you may expect a summons in the meantime as well.

If you have money to spend and a need to dance, Halo is definitely the vibe. We went for a friend’s birthday and had a blast. Highly recommend whatever their pouring tequila is - my drinks were amazing!

Really enjoyed the night but you need a foreign budget to have a big night. Not catered for the locals.

I would strongly suggest NOT to run an event here. Poor service! Doorman extremely aggressive. Unprepared for & uneducated about the event. Security staff unaccommodating and unreasonable. Within 15 minutes of arriving I wanted to go home. I felt the pandora event was not honored by any of the staff.

Please contact me at your earlier convenience if you wish to remedy the situation. Later in the evening I was physically interrupted by one of your staff completely unprovoked. I did not want to be provoked on the dance floor and when I asked him for his name, he then physically pushed me which to my knowledge is a violation of my rights.

Overpriced and homophobic. This place would not let me in because my shirt was deemed too “feminine” even though I payed R180 for a ticket. I then made a plan to change my outfit to something more “straight” as the bouncer said, but then the music was off and the atmosphere was uncomfortable. To top all of this off, I was charged over R300 for a drink and a shot. I do not recommend this horrible place and can’t wait to never come here again.
