I recently stayed at Harbor House in Kalk Bay, and it was an exceptional experience! The service was outstanding—staff members were welcoming, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to making my stay comfortable.

The rooms were beautifully designed, combining modern comforts with a cozy, coastal vibe. They were impeccably clean and well-equipped, offering stunning views of the harbor that made waking up a delight.

I took a Japanese business business associate to Harbour House Kalk Bay for a seafood dinner. We were exited about the idea of a delicious seafood meal, local wine all set in an ideal location. I wish I had read some recent reviews and not got caught by the overall review rating. Obviously something has gone horribly wrong at this place.
The wine was great, the meal was less than average (we ordered crayfish) but the most disappointing was the lack of service. The waitress was terrible. We had to signal her for attention, otherwise we’d probably still be sitting there. There’s no excuse as there was no more than 4 tables being served on a Thurs night! To top the bad service off, when the waitress saw that I chose not leave a tip, her attitude was palpable. She let us know in no uncertain terms that she was not happy.

The evening was such a disappointment and an absolute waste of money. The very friendly car guard who greeted us on arrival and departure received the generous tip instead.

We have been going to Harbour House Kalk Bay for years. We went there just recently after not having gone for a while,  and I was shocked! Everything was bad,  the service,  sloppyness of the restaurant, the food and those prices! It was a Saturday night,  all the restaurants we passed in that area were full,  when we got to Harbour House and there were only about 3 other tables taken.  They charged us over R900 for the tiniest Crayfish, which was dry and awful.  They started getting the washing ready to take by piling it in a huge pile between the bar and tables,  in plain view of us eating. The washing stayed there for the whole time we were there.  The service was really bad,  the waitress unfortunately had no training,  and the once loved food was not what it used to be.  We will not be returning. How sad, but for those prices,  you expect decent food in a great environment with decent service.

We had lunch at the restaurant and had a great experience. What stands out is the location with an amazing view at the ocean. The food was delicious, especially the fresh fish. The service was also great as we wanted to relocate the tables due to a noisy travel group. All in all, it’s more than worth a visit. If you’re lucky, you can even greet a sea lion at the nearby harbour. (don’t touch them 😁)

Restaurant was full of flies which was quite annoying. The portions were very small for the prices they were charging. Food was good. The view from the restaurant of the bay is breath taking. We watched whales in the bay as we ate our lunch.
