I had a wonderful dining experience at Salon—the food was fresh, and the waiters were both knowledgeable and very friendly. I would absolutely recommend the restaurant.

That said, I’m giving a 3 for service because I feel there’s room for improvement in how staff are trained to read the room. While I understand that waiters need to coordinate with the kitchen, I found the level of interruption excessive. From the moment we sat down, the interactions felt constant, to the point where I ended up speaking to my waiters more than my guest. A bit more attentiveness to pacing and guest conversations would enhance the experience.

Additionally, we opted for the tasting menu with wine pairing, which is a premium experience, but it felt rushed. Allowing guests a bit more time to enjoy each course would make the meal feel more special and relaxed.

Overall, Salon offers fantastic food and a great atmosphere, but a few service adjustments could elevate the experience even further.

We went there the first night after arriving here in CPT. The food was amazing. A nice journey through different cuisines.
The staff was very attentive and nice. Happy to explain any questions we had.
Also the Thai green curry cocktail was just spectacular.

As someone who is gluten-free, I was thrilled by the exceptional care and attention to detail in their modifications. Every dish was perfectly tailored without compromising flavor or presentation—it was clear the kitchen staff is highly skilled and accommodating.

The cocktails are equally exceptional, crafted with precision and creativity to perfectly complement the meal. The staff is flawless—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about providing an unforgettable dining experience.

The gastronomical journey started off brilliantly with all three the South African padkos dishes being big hits around the table, but quickly fizzled out when we got to the second fish dish.  Why serve us two fish dishes in a row (a follow through vegetable dish would have been much nicer…). The lamb tagine dish was nice, but eating it was a struggle as the dish it was served in was too deep and I am still somewhat confused why it was served in a tagine in the first place. Anyway. Another star performer was served next: the Duck Suzette - which was divine! Overall the food was good, service a tad intrusive with waiters constantly drowning us in even more water refills. The atmosphere otherwise is sadly somewhat dreary. I also find the 13% included gratuity a tad rich and an utterly annoying practice best reserved for America. Why restauranteurs expect patrons to cover their waiters’ salaries with gratuities, I don’t understand when good service is what I would expect from a fine dining restaurant. Most people would happily tip 10% out of own volition even for average service, but “forcing” it on customers simply leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

The "Pork Smiley" features tender pork cheek served with celeriac and a creamy blue cheese sauce, while the "Beef Kalbi" offers a harmonious blend of beef fillet and chestnut rice, enhanced by a rich kimchi.

To conclude your exquisite meal, the dessert offerings are nothing short of masterpieces. The "Forest Noir" presents a harmonious blend of vanilla and parmesan shortbread, foie gras, and sour plum jelly, finished with a drizzle of rich chocolate. Alternatively, the "Tropica" showcases tropical flavors of lemongrass, coconut, lime, litchi, and pineapple, delivering a refreshing end to your dining experience. For a comforting classic, the "Malva Pudding" is served with amasi ice cream, providing a sweet and creamy finale.
