I recently went to the Dark Horse, late night actually, an impromptu celebratory drink as I had just completed a crazy work project and wanted to share my experience and celebrate a little bit. What a warm welcome I received! I had a great time, had friendly bar staff treat me like a long lost friend, shared jokes, hugs and laughs and just had a great time.
I will be back with tons of my friends!

I've always only been to The Dark Horse for a quick drink before moving onto dinner. It took friends from JHB to suggest meeting there for something to eat before I realized there was even a menu board on the wall! 😁

And oh my goodness - What have I been missing! Their tapas dishes are well portioned and out-of-this-world tasty, with a nice variety to choose from. My definite favorites were the thick cut chips and the pulled pork bitterballen.

The bar / restaurant was not as full as I usually experience it, so I cannot comment on how efficient the food service would be if it was full. But on our evening out, the food actually arrived quicker than our drinks order.

One can sit outside facing the street on bar chairs, inside on couches and benches, or upstairs with breath taking views of the mountain. Nice vibey atmosphere.

I can only recommend this place. My girlfriend and I visited a couple of times when we were in Cape Town. Even though it has been a few months since, she has not been able to shut up about the Lemon Drop Martinis they serve. Staff was very welcoming and the rooftop has a great view.
