We have been to the restaurant this evening. The first table they offered us wasn't the best, really, then we asked to be moved next to the garden, which was really amazing, it makes a huge difference. It was such a lovely and warm summer evening! Their terrace is something else! So when you book, if the weather suits it, ask to be on the terrace. The waiter was very nice and he has been doing great service all the way. Bravo! I ordered some oysters with a mix of soja and ginger sauce (where I am still wondering were the ginger was?), the plate arrived with no spoon and no forks...urghh sorry but I dont eat oysters with my fingers..then I asked for it and I got suprised when the waiter brought me a fork made to eat your normal food...he told me they used to have oysters forks but not anymore...dont they have money enough to buy some? (At R5500 a room?). It is super weird to eat oysters with a big fork..and it is not very classy for such a restaurant! The food was ok, but nothing amazing either. I had the duck. It was good, but honestly, it was such a small piece. Very small, even! When it arrived on the table, I didn't even see the meat on the plate, for real! 3 bites, and it was done. 100 grams with the bone at the max! I was very disappointed...the side plate was made of 5 pieces of coliflower, 4 pieces of corn, and 2 beans...at R295, you expect not coming back home and being still hungry. But when I arrived home then I opened my fridge and looked at what I could eat 😉
The wine list by the glass is not bad, but the 1st glass I ordered was off (the bottle got certainly opened 3 or 4 days before and not kept in a wine fridge, I cant handle the smell of it), the waiter opened a fresh bottle for me which I appreciated, unfortunately the wine wasn't chill (as too often in Cape Town) then I had to ask to be at the right temperature (17/18 degrees and not 25). At R110 a glass, you have good expectations, no?
Overall, it was a nice evening on their terrace, but I am not sure about the food...will we go back there? I'm not sure.
Will we recommend that place? I'm not sure.

Celebrated my anniversary here, with a wonderful high tea experience. Nestled in a beautiful garden and lush surroundings. Highly recommended.
Booking was a breeze, plenty parking, accessable, friendly and multiple choices.
Food: the high tea was delicious on every course, generous portions and a good variety. The tea itself is also different and exotic.
Service: Fantastic service, friendly staff, engaged, attention to detail and accommodating.
Atmosphere: it really is a beautiful destination, perfect for an afternoon meal, cocktail, high tea or even just easy eating on the patio. Mountain and garden views.
We arrived early and enjoyed a delicious cocktail while waiting in the library.
Heads-up, they added an automatic 10% to the bill
I'll be going there again!

The service and the hotel are very nice. We had a great time here and enjoyed the wonderful breakfast a lot.

Only downside was a cockroach which strolled through our bathroom during the night. The management claims it to be the only one, but for the price I was surprised by this anyway.. we got a refund of 50€ for this after actively asking for it.

Stayed over in November. Had a great time in this place. They have done well to embed nature in their hospitality offering.

The staff are super helpful. Normally, I gauge a place by how they treat their low earning staff. The driver I went with to the airport had nothing else but praises about the Management.

Made it feel like it's a place where work is more of a 'family feel' at the end of the day for him.

Dramatic service, stolen property and non-reactive staff!!!
This is simply a hotel with non-motivated / incapable staff, like many too big business hotels. They promised to send us, a dress that we left in the hotel after many telephone calls ….and then they forgot….
Never again.
