A friend and I made a reservation for 8.30pm, arriving promptly on time our table wasn’t available yet and we were told to just wait outside on the road instead of perhaps being seated at the bar. Once seated, we unfortunately had to wait for over 45 minutes for 2 cocktails and 2 tequila shots, our food order arrived before my friends cocktail! The staff was apologetic about the hold up but it didn’t seem as they were trying to speed things up, felt like a “just deal with it” attitude.

However the cocktails were delicious and food was really good, if the service was faster and staff more responsive and face paced it would’ve been a wonderful experience!

Great place with delicious food and very original and tasty cocktails. The staff are nice and professional. It is a busy place, expect many people, some music and good vibes, but nog for a quiet romantic dinner!

One of my favorites in Sea Point is this place. The food is great, the cocktails are wonderful, and the staff is amazing. The bathroom is even better—it’s like a mini club! I’ve been going there so often that it’s become one of my regular spots in Sea Point during my two and a half months in Cape Town. I highly recommend it!

As aficionados of Mexican cuisine and, in particular, tacos, we were immediately drawn to this establishment. The palpable buzz emanating from within, with nearly every table occupied, seemed to beckon us, as though the one remaining free table was awaiting our arrival. The restaurant itself is rather diminutive, which makes advance reservations decidedly advisable. The interior is reasonably attractive, with a few tables spilling onto the sidewalk.

The Menu:

The restaurant offers a relatively standard array of Mexican fare, including some appetizers, tazones - a sort of bowl with various fillings - and, of course, tacos. We decided to sample the white fish ceviche and a variety of tacos: fish, prawn, and meat. The ceviche was skillfully balanced, highlighting the requisite acidity, and possessing a subtle hint of herbaceousness. The tacos, served in pairs, were generously filled. The fish taco, while competently executed, lacked a certain sauciness, as the fried fish and the corn tortilla contributed to an overall dryness. The prawn taco proved to be the most enjoyable, largely due to its vibrant vegetables and well-balanced sauce. The prawns were expertly grilled and the portion was ample. We found the meat taco to be the least compelling; while it possessed a rich flavour, it was, unfortunately, rather dry. The meat, though tasty, had a texture more reminiscent of stew than traditional grill fare.

Service:

The service, while generally cordial, was somewhat sluggish, although this is perhaps understandable given the restaurant's full capacity. On the whole, the experience was pleasant and the dishes were delivered in a reasonable time despite the evident busyness of the restaurant.

Conclusion:

This restaurant offers a respectable option for a casual Mexican meal or a quick bite. It's a decidedly boisterous place with a lively atmosphere, generally filled to capacity, so booking ahead is prudent. We enjoyed the energy of the space and, in particular, their cocktails. If you're seeking a Mexican restaurant on Sea Point, this establishment warrants your consideration.

THE place to be in sea point! Amazing cocktails (the best margarita I’ve ever had!), awesome mezcal and tequila selection, and authentic Mexican food. Friendly and attentive staff. Just a lovely vibe, layout and location. Will definitely be back! 5 stars plus!
