Var börjar man. De enda beskyddarna när vi kom. En ung servitris helt ovetande om menyn. Väntar i över en timme på en gemensam förrätt. Dåligt tillagad, smaklös mat och, till råga på allt, när våra åsikter förmedlades kom ingen i auktoritet fram för att ens fråga vad våra farhågor var. Vi beställde en förrätt av Salt och Peppar Bläckfisk. Efter att ha ätit en maträtt med detta namn över hela världen, behandlas den vanligtvis med salt och peppar, stekt till en krispig och garnerad med vårlök och röda chili. En timme efter vår beställning fick vi bitar av mjuk kalamari som antingen hade kokats eller doppats i olja. Istället för den inlagda gurkan som annonserades fick vi lite blöt sallad, mosad avokado och någon sorts dressing. Vi hade knappt avslutat den här röran när våra elnät kom. Vi fick veta att hela beställningen, förrätt och huvudrätt, hade planerats att serveras tillsammans. Min frus hårt slagna överstekta Kingklip var passable. Innan jag beställde hade jag frågat hur räkorna tillagades. De var visst grillade. Att de var det men utan någon baste av något slag. Det åtföljdes av ris. Vanligtvis äter jag det sista kornet på tallriken. Gurkmejasmaksatt ris ska vara just det , precis tillräckligt för att göra riset blekgult och avge en subtil smak. Detta ris var bokstavligen dränkt i så mycket gurkmeja, att det helt övermannade någon smak. Jag vet att Gordon’s Bay inte riktigt håller måttet på Stellenbosch Wine Route eller Kapstaden, men jag hoppas bara att det finns bättre matställen än så här i stan. Jag tycker att ägarna till denna anläggning borde överväga om de borde skicka sin personal och sig själva till en utbildningsanläggning för gästfrihet för att lära sig något om att driva en restaurang.

Vi hade söndagssteken och även revbenen speciella och maten var utsökt. Blev besviken över att få veta att vi inte kunde köpa vin av glaset, bara av flaskan även om menyn säger annorlunda. Även om jag hade gratis glass till lunchen fick vi veta att det inte fanns någon glass till dom Pedro's.

Vid ankomsten vårt parti av 8 möttes av chefen som var en trevlig touch, tyvärr det är så bra som det fick. Servitrisen hade uppenbarligen inte fått tillräcklig utbildning, och även om hon var den enda kunden i anläggningen lyckades hon ändå få dryckerna, förrätten och huvudmåltiderna fel. Bestick inte ersättas, tallrikar inte rensas, en krubba som verkade likgiltig för dålig service vi fick, två timmars väntan på huvudmåltid och debiteras för förrätter som glömdes, tillsammans med en lukt i toaletterna som om något hade dött, bara gjorde denna upplevelse en att glömma.
