Jie Xiang Lou is tucked away in a quiet area of ​​West Lake with a beautiful classical Chinese design style, giving it an unusually peaceful feel. It is one of the 7 villas in the Zixuandu resort with a wonderful environment and a quiet and elegant feel in the courtyard. The wooden doors with brown brick tones are reminiscent of ancient times. In addition, the gold–embossed Buddha statues are low–key and elegant.

Each dish celebrates the original flavors of the excellent ingredients. The Orange Stuffed with Crab and Lotus Root, Crispy Fish with Plum Sauce, Century Egg with Steamed Eggplant in Tart as well as Handmade Prawn Roll, Cuttlefish Roll with Scallion Sauce and Garlic & Chili Sauce are four cold dishes that are great umami flavors – all served at the same time.

Handmade Shellfish Ball with Loquat Leaves Soup, Baked Blackthroat Seaperch with Sichuan Peppercorn and Wagyu Beef Smoked with JiuQu Black Tea are all excellent dishes down to the last detail. The chef’s arrangement of the dishes is equally precise – the more you eat, the more delicious and enjoyable the meal becomes.

It’s a great restaurant with delicious and creative Chinese fusion style, also with good service, professional sommelier, nice wine list! This was my best dinner experience in China. I will go back again for sure!
