The room was absolutely beautiful--spacious, thoughtfully designed, and with a stunning view of Victoria Harbour that I couldn't get enough of. The bed felt like sleeping on a cloud, and I loved the high-tech touches, like the bedside tablets that controlled everything from the lights to the curtains. It's the little details that really make a difference, and they nailed it here, from the fresh flowers to the luxurious bath products that made unwinding after a long day a treat.

Service at The Peninsula is in a league of its own. The staff are genuinely warm, attentive, and seem to anticipate your every need. From the seamless check-in process to the concierge team who helped arrange everything from restaurant reservations to sightseeing tips, I felt incredibly well taken care of.

I also treated myself to afternoon tea in The Lobby, and it was worth every moment. The pastries, scones, and finger sandwiches were delicious, and the atmosphere made it feel like a true escape from the bustling city outside. The breakfast spread was another highlight--fresh, varied, and served with impeccable style.

The location is perfect too--right in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, with easy access to the Star Ferry and shopping, yet it still feels like a peaceful retreat when you return.

Honestly, if you're looking for the best of the best in Hong Kong, The Peninsula is it. It's more than just a place to stay; it's an experience that makes you feel special from start to finish. Can't wait for my next visit!

I was at the Peninsula for its famed British-style afternoon tea, and I can say that I was not disappointed. The tea selection was excellent, as was the selection of pastries and sandwiches. It is to be noted that if you are from Europe, the selection might be less "special", but nonetheless it is very good and authentic.

Service was great, and everything was clean and spotless, including the cutlery and the lavatories. The Grand Dame is looking as good and lively as ever; the lobby is in great shape and truly to be in awe of. The time of elegant, luxurious and graceful hotels is not over yet, and the Peninsula proves this, from both the outside and the inside.

When a regular hotel provides good customer service it becomes a worthwhile stay.

But when a world class iconic hotel provides impeccable service it becomes a fantastic experience!!

The room was dated, and the plumbing was not particularly desirable, particularly the shower. The hot and cold shower was the most problematic. The breakfast buffet was satisfactory. The bread section was somewhat below par. The selection was satisfactory. It did not meet the high standards of a five-star hotel. Upon my arrival, there was insufficient staff to handle my luggage, but it was satisfactory when I departed. It's definitely not worth the price and there are better alternatives available.

The Peninsula Hong Kong: A Backpacker's Surprisingly Affordable Luxury
Let's be real, The Peninsula Hong Kong is known for its opulence and old-world charm, not exactly budget-traveler vibes. But hear me out! As a solo backpacker exploring Kowloon, I decided to treat myself to a night at this iconic hotel, and I'm so glad I did.

Location, Location, Location:
The Peninsula is smack-dab in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, making it the perfect base for exploring Kowloon.  Stepping out the door, I was immediately immersed in the bustling streets, markets, and amazing food stalls.  Plus, the Star Ferry and MTR are right there, so getting around was a breeze.

A Touch of Class:
Okay, walking into the lobby felt a bit surreal with my backpack. It's all chandeliers, marble, and impeccably dressed staff. But everyone was super welcoming, and I never felt out of place.  My room was surprisingly affordable (for The Peninsula!), compact but beautifully appointed, with all the amenities I needed.

The Pool Predicament:
The main pool was under renovation during my stay, which was a bummer.  But the hotel arranged access to a pool at a nearby hotel, which was just a short walk away.  It wasn't ideal, but it got the job done.

Unexpected Perks:
* Free Walking Tour: The hotel offers a free heritage walking tour, which was a fantastic way to learn about the history of the area and the hotel itself.
* Affordable Afternoon Tea:  Okay, it's still a splurge, but compared to other high tea experiences in Hong Kong, The Peninsula's is surprisingly reasonable.  And it's an experience! Live music, elegant setting, delicious treats... totally worth it.
* Rooftop Vibes: Even without the pool, the rooftop terrace offers incredible views of the harbor. Perfect for sunset cocktails (which, admittedly, are not backpacker-budget friendly, but a small splurge for the view is worth considering!).

Overall:
The Peninsula Hong Kong definitely exceeded my expectations. It's a splurge, no doubt, but if you're looking for a taste of luxury and history while backpacking in Kowloon, it's worth considering.  Just be aware of the pool situation!
