One of the many satisfying meals we had:

I have always dropped by here for their signature spicy crab when I’m in HK. Have been their customers for over two decades and it’s a place you would not want to miss.
The difference today is that they now have air conditioned seating in the second level while previously I can choose the ground floor of three different dinning room along the same stretch.
The spicy crab now has less fried garlic lining the base of the plate and is a bit more salty compared to what they served me in the past. Nevertheless, it’s a dish you don’t want to miss.

Causeway Bay is a battlefield of HK style "typhoon shelter" stir-fried crab. This time we made a reservation at Under Bridge Spicy Crab - a restaurant with 35 years of history serving up premium seafood and Chinese dishes.

Scrumptious platter with roasted goose, roasted pork, charsiu, chicken and sausage. The extra tender charsiu was a highlight, while roasted pork had a thin layer of crackling skin and juicy meat.

◆Razor Clam in Black Bean Sauce
◆Stir-fried Clams w/ Spicy Black Bean Sauce
Both made with a rich black bean sauce full of umami. Huge razor clams. The stir-fried clams also came in large portion.

◆Stir-fried Crab w/ Chili & Garlic
The reason why I chose this restaurant. The fresh crab in deep-fried chopped garlic and chili which was slightly spicy and flavorful, but didn't overwhelmn the taste of the crab, was perfectly cooked to the point that the meat was still moist and briny.

Packed with wok hay. The rice noodles weren't too oily, with beef slices and bean sprouts in an aromatic sauce. Choy sum tasted sweet and had a slightly crunchy texture.

Wow the Spicy Crab is soooo delicious! It is moist, fresh, well seasoned, even the crispy things are so worth the price. The place is crowded in eating time. The place is clean. The staffs are helpful. I have a perfect experience coming here and absolutely will come again in my next visit to Hongkong.

I recently visited Chilli Crab Under the Bridge in Hong Kong, a place I had fond memories of from previous visits. However, after their change of location, the experience left much to be desired.

The signature crab, which once stood out for its balanced flavors, tasted noticeably different this time. The seasoning was far too salty, overshadowing the natural sweetness of the crab. Other dishes lacked the finesse and taste that the restaurant was once renowned for.

I came with high hopes and nostalgic memories, but unfortunately, I left disappointed. It’s sad to say that this will likely be my last visit. For those seeking the old charm and flavors of this establishment, you may want to manage your expectations.
