I received a recommendation from a local to try Nasi Tempong Mbok Wah, located not far from the Banyuwangi City train station, and I was pleasantly surprised. The food is perfect for those who don’t like overly sweet flavors. A portion of nasi tempong comes with a generous serving of rice, ikan asin, lalapan, and the highlight—its incredibly flavorful sambal, which is perfect for spice lovers. Additionally, there is a variety of side dishes available, such as fried chicken, tempe, fried egg, and more. The portion sizes are extremely generous, so if you have a smaller appetite, I recommend requesting a smaller serving of rice. The prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes and the delicious taste.

However, the service was less than ideal as the staff seemed a bit unfriendly, possibly due to the late hour when I visited. As for the ambiance, it was decent, though the cleanliness of the hand-washing area could use some improvement

First time being here. Amazed by lots of choices of Javanese traditional dishes at affordable price. I heard that former President Jokowi had also been here.
I love all the dishes but my favorite is the black squid and the garang asem kikil.

The portion was quite huge for me but it was lunch so the place is so pack and the sambal is soooo spicy and all of the proteins such fish, tofu, tempe was immaculate!!

This is one of the best culinary experience i have tried so far. I took simple menu that consist of fried tofu tempeh, fried fish, fried egg, veggies and steamed fish in banana leaf, however it taste amazing after it mixed with their special sambal which were given in a big full 1 plate for 2 persons. Simple review as it can't be explained through words, you need to experience it by yourself.
