If you’re considering staying here and on the fence, I strongly recommend that you book it. You will not regret it.

The food is absolutely incredible. The hotel is stunning, the rooms are the nicest I’ve ever stayed at and the service is exceptional. It’s uniquely located and the food is locally sourced and authentic, so if you have a western pallet, you may need to be open minded, but it’s phenomenal cuisine. The staff are kind and helpful and the private mineral baths are soothing, healing, and beautiful. I can’t recommend it all enough. We wish we could stay forever.

The Zaborin is our favorite hotel in the world (including the Aman chain). This is our second stay and we decided to end our honeymoon in Hokkaido here. Everything about it is zen peaceful perfection, from the stunning architecture to the furniture (minimalist, beautiful), to the creatively delicious kaiseki dinner and breakfast included (our best meals in Hokkaido including meals in Otaru the sushi capital), to the stunning incredibly private rooms with both private indoor and outdoor onsens. You can really just live in your large room all day long in their comfortable robe outfits but there’s reading to be done in one of the studies, thoughtful matcha making, or a shuttle to take you into skiing. Our souls feel rested. We feel privileged to stay at the Zaborin and will absolutely be back.

Fabulous place. Staff are great and the two onsens in each guestroom are fantastic. Food was amazing, both breakfast and dinner.
There are some areas for improvement (e.g. housekeeping could be better; it would be nice if they had more/better seating outdoors) but overall I highly recommend this place.
It's what I hoped Aman Kyoto would be like. Zaborin is much better though.

It was beyond my expectation. I was a bit worried to see bad reviews on Zaborin’s cuisine. Food was great. Not that bad as somebody mentioned on reviews. Fair, very beautifully adjusted french cuisine using Hokkaido raw materials.
The view from the room was ok. Feel like in to the wild. I saw Bambi=shika family while I was doing outdoor bath😄. Exciting!
And some bad things:
1. Welcome drink is maple syrup water as somebody mentioned. But its possible to drink matcha at the lobby from 10 to ….
2. Too many insects. Especially mosses. They all died outdoor bath places. In bath tub also. 😭
3. Not sure it’s worth for 200000 yen for 2 ppl for one night.

Stayed at Zaborin on Aug 31. The quality of guestroom, dining and services were way below expectation. Japanese beef steak was dried up with no juice at all with terrible smell. Dinner quality was sub-standard. Guestroom outdated. Terrible library and bar.
