The dispute started with the Soviet Union in the 1940s and is unresolved until this day. Visit on the first week of July, and the view was completely obscured by fog. Multiple monuments here, the biggest a metal arch with an ever-burning flame. Also a bell, and several other stone monuments.

Was very windy at the time of visit.
Don't forget to bring an umbrella, as it is snowy in the mainland, here it'll rain.
If you want to see the seas frozen, I'd suggest coming in mid to late winter.
Bus is about 40min from Nosappu station.
Round trip about 2,000yen. If you don't know which ticket to buy, ask the staff, they'll provide help very kindly.
Great place to learn about the Kuril Islands.
