Authentic Japanese experience - confirmed by the fact that lots of Japanese tourists stayed alongside there with us. The property itself is very simple in terms of offering. But everything they do offer is composed and executed to a very very high standard. And the Onsen is simply amazing combined with the offered massage services. Just skip the pool - but that really shouldn’t be a reason to go in the first place 😉

The most exquisite hotel we have ever had. The rooms were spacious with forest views and meticulously maintained. Service was amazing and our room attendant keiko made sure every detail was attended. The onsen were perfect and the best part of the stay was the food

Our stay at Gora Kadan was by far the best hotel experience we’ve ever had! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. The rooms were beautifully designed, the decorations were stunning, and the overall ambiance was so relaxing and luxurious. The service was exceptional, and the food—absolutely incredible. Every meal was a culinary delight.

The onsens were incredible, especially the outdoor ones. Soaking in the warm, natural waters surrounded by nature brought us so much peace and relaxation. It was a truly calming experience that added to the overall serenity of our stay.

A special mention goes to Maho, our room assistant, who truly made our stay unforgettable. She was the sweetest, most polite person, and her attention to detail and care for us made the experience even more special. Her warm and thoughtful service made our time there feel like a 5-star experience.

There are really no words to fully describe how wonderful our stay was. It was worth every single penny, and we honestly feel that Gora Kadan is a gem. We’re from Portugal, but we would return to Japan just to stay here again.

To anyone reading reviews, we honestly believe that any review below 4 stars must be from people being overly picky because there really isn’t a single bad thing about this hotel. Everything was flawless.

This ryokan is situated in quite area away from main shopping and restaurant down the hill.  We reserved room with private stone onsen outdoors which were all stunning. We had our own mini garden outside, only thing is to be careful of bugs outdoors because we had a Japanese hornet fly into our room. We called staff to help us take care of Japanese hornet since it kept trying to stab us and they came quickly and were friendly and glad to help.

Dinner was in private room and our host helped to give us tips how to plan out our next day. When checking out they saw me struggling with my necklace that was tangled on itself and helped me to detangle it which was extremely kind of them. The hallway leading from hallway has high ceilings that are stunning and the bar and lobby have beautiful view of the hills. Overall this stay was luxurious and customer service was top notch. One nice touch is that they helped us with luggage and opened taxi door every time we came back.

Save your money and go elsewhere. Was expecting a luxury stay but got a room in a rundown building. For $2k+ a night, you’d think they could afford to change the faucets but apparently not; seemed like they were at least 20 years old. The room started to stink like sewer a few hours into the stay and the smell kept me up all night.

No complaints on the food, the service or even the comfort of the room (besides the horrible smell) but it’s definitely not luxury or five star. Not worth the money.
