Kakyo was an incredible experience, and I’d fly back to Japan to enjoy this meal all over again! The space was absolutely stunning, with warm jazz music playing lightly, and a view of the kitchen, where we could watch the chef and his assistants craft the most exquisite food I’ve ever had! Everything placed in front of us was delicious, fresh, and flavorful. The best meal I’ve ever had in my 30 years of life. I highly recommend Kakyo to anyone visiting Kyoto. It was an experience I will never forget!

Great experience. Artfully crafted dishes with excellent plating. Sitting right in front of the work gave us something to watch. The pairings were excellent and worth it. The lunch price is a great deal.

Truly exquisite. We had the tasting menu with pairings tonight and it was out of this world. Better than Michelin star restaurants we’ve visited. Every course built upon the prior, layers of incredible flavor were present in every course, the plating was lovely and my photos don’t do it justice. It is one of the top meals I’ve ever experienced, and the service was impeccable. If I’m ever in Kyoto again I will be returning.

Do yourself a favor and go here! We had one of the best lunches we’ve ever had here. The food was unique, tasty - it’s one of those meals you don’t want to end!

One of our favorite meals in Japan! Every dish was so thoughtful and the service was top tier. The chef’s counter is super fun if you’re into that. We’re big wine lovers and hadn’t gotten a ton of wine in Japan at this point, so definitely recommend doing the pairing if you’re in the same boat
