While staying at Hotel Kanra Kyoto, I visited this restaurant for dinner.

Since I was dining alone, I requested to sit at the counter rather than a table. They kindly accommodated my request, allowing me to enjoy the meal while watching the chef cook right in front of me.

The course meal was well-rounded, including teppanyaki dishes, a rice-based meal, and dessert. They also offered a wide selection of glass wines, from sparkling to red wine, including Kyoto wine, which allowed me to experience the local wine. It was a delightful touch to the dining experience.

As I am Korean, they kindly assigned a staff member who spoke Korean well, ensuring I was comfortable and well taken care of throughout the meal. Additionally, all the staff members were incredibly cheerful and friendly, which helped relieve the fatigue of my travels. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude.

The best dining experience we had in Kyoto. Everything was beautifully done!! From the booking website was informative and very clear on the choices without hidden charges. I came to celebrate my best friend’s birthday and booked an early dinner. Private room was arranged for us. Staff were so professional and well English spoken. I have chosen a 7 courses celebration menu and every single course was delicious with pretty presentation. My friends enjoyed the meal very much and think it is definitely a Michelin star restaurant in every way. Would love to come back if I visit Kyoto again!!

The food and service was impeccable. The staff were so caring and explained the different foods. Gluten free was no problem either. A great atmosphere to indulge in beautiful food. Thank you to Hikaru and his staff.

The most amazing meal we had in Japan by far. It was luxurious, creative and most importantly delicious. This place deserves a Michelin star as the other reviews said. It is definitely an experience and worth to splurge at least once here. No matter what course you choose, you will enjoy it. The cocktails were refreshing too. My favorite was the appetizer and the beef. The dessert was special too!
The location is apart of the hotel on the first floor, we didn’t have a reservation but were seated. First check in with the front staff at the hotels. Everyone was very very friendly and English accommodating!!  Thank you very much! 😍

I traveled from Nagoya to Kyoto this afternoon just so I could have dinner here. I arrived just as they opened and I was dining alone; if you are more than one person it would be best to make a reservation. The staff were very polite and friendly. The menu options are quite fancy and have three tiers, I chose the second tier as it had lobster and Wagyu A5. The experience did not disappoint! The food was amazing and the experience of watching them cook the steak in front of you is very nice. I would highly recommend this place to locals and travelers, it was worth every Yen 💴!!! 😋
