Wow wow wow. Hits after hits. Bold rich taste speaks for itself. Elevated and innovative Chinese cuisine at its finest. 10+ course and we selected the 11,000 yen menu; we left really full. Each dish was a banger with no misses. They also thoughtfully catered and prepped for our pescatarian diet. Hands down one of the most delicious meals in recent memory.

Can't get better than the price to food ratio, especially at a 2 starred Michelin restaurant. Well worth! Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They can explain the ingredients in English and Japanese. The entire restaurant had to more or less eat at the same place which was fine since we took and documented our experience. Reservations made online and we were lucky enough to get one less than one week out. Highly recommended and will definitely be back with family and friends.

A wonderful experience with a creative menu that managed to suprise with every dish.

The dining area was lively and cozy, seating around 7 parties. The open kitchen structure was great because we were able to see (and hear) various parts of the chefs cooking processes.

Food was good - every dish was well executed and flavored, as opposed to being overly sweet or salty. Highlights for me was the first dessert of almond jelly and the Peking duck inspired course. My partner and I went for the 20000 yen lunch menu, and were stuffed after finishing (I regretted having breakfast). The only thing that I would appreciate a bit more of is vegetable based dishes to break up the heaviness and meatiness of many consecutive meat courses.

Service was impeccable, with refills of tea almost every dish, thorough explanations of the dishes themselves, and options to reduce course sizes if you were getting too full. The waiters would also adjust to small things, such as slowing down sauce pours and presentations if you were taking photo and videos.

Best Michelin Restaurant we went to during our trip.
Staff (front and back of house) operated so efficiently with super smooth service and transitions.
The plating and ambiance were so interesting and exceptional as well.
Come hungry because you will be full.
You can also ask for smaller portions to experience a bite of everything.
Lunch for ¥ 11,000 a person was honestly a steal.

TL;DR - W O W

Every dish was executed with such great balance and depth of flavor.

We came for lunch, opting for the ¥20,000 menu and one regular alcohol pairing (¥15,000) and one small alcohol pairing (¥10,000). The difference between the two was that the small is a smaller pour, which made sense over 11 courses and a complimentary birthday course.

With service and tax, our bill came to ¥71,500, which given everything, I felt was a good value.

I also appreciated that as we got to the end of the menu, our server checked in to see if we wanted standard portions, or smaller portions, which was very thoughtful.

The pairings were very thoughtfully done, with each supporting or complementing the food seamlessly, especially the sweet Hungarian wine and the foie gras wafer sandwiches.

With the ¥20,000 food option, we received wagyu as our main, while those that opted into the ¥11,000 received pork, which, given the execution of the food throughout, I am sure was excellent.

This is not a light lunch, so I highly recommend a walk and maybe a nap afterward!

While there are many familiar references points for those who appreciate Chinese cuisines internationally, there is real innovation here where technique is clearly on display without sacrifice in flavor.

My favorite dim sum happens to be fried taro dumplings filled with pork, which they replicated here with sweet potato to wonderful effect.

This was an incredible experience and one I would willingly repeat; the food, the service, and atmosphere were wonderful and left me wanting for nothing.

I didn’t quite know what to expect for the dessert courses, but the approach in highlighting delicate flavor and texture were truly great.

I’d absolutely recommend checking this place out if you’re in Kyoto—just be sure to do everything you plan to do for the day before stopping in!
