The staff at Onyado Nono Nara are the most kind and helpful I experienced in nearly 3 weeks in Japan across 8 cities. Every staff member went above and beyond to make the stay enjoyable, from check in, to the restaurant, to the manager and every worker in between.

The onsen is a nice experience, and the breakfast buffet is worth it.

It's super quiet, the rooms are simple, but it feels like you're staying in luxury.

The pillows are *super* firm, so be prepared for that.

Cannot say enough kind things about the staff. 10000/10 would recommend.

Minutes from Nara station, this hotel is all about onsen,  and offers a convienent and affordable onsen experience to travelers. There are free yakult and ice cream after onsen, free massage chairs and comics book room, as well as complementary night noodles from 9:30 pm if you are hungry. The breakfast is especially good with a selection of seafood and local specialty dishes as well as the popular breakfast stables. The room was a little on the small side, but we hardly spent anytime in our room so it didn't matter too much. Minutes away from main shopping street and amusement centers which kept the kids entertained!

Below average facilities if for a 4 stars or even 3 stars hotel, the room is very narrow, and they only provide one pillow for you if it’s only one guest, the room is generally clean but there’s a lot of dust in the window frame, the window is also sealed with paper frame which is unable to open, so in fact there’s no windows in a way, since you can see outside, another thing is the air conditioner is dripping water during my whole stay which is annoying. Good thing about the hotel is that they provide complimentary ramen at night, also free hot spring, but the hygiene is questionable as I have noticed that some of the guests go straight into the pool without showering.

I really enjoyed my stay and it was in a great location for walkable dining, shopping, and attractions like Todai-ji and Nara Park. The only disappointment was the zero tolerance of tattoos in the Onsen.
