This is a time-honored Nara soba restaurant, located in a small alley in the old city. You need to wait in line. The shop is small but warm. The food is freshly cooked and the soup is very delicious!

My family and I all ordered the hot Tempura Soba set, and we loved it!! So delicious, possibly the best tempura I've had on this trip.

The vegetables and shrimp were expertly fried, no grease at all and with a delicate crunch. They come with salt instead of the usual dipping sauce. The soba was also immensely satisfying; my favorite was the small strips of yuzu that added a refreshing taste to the broth.

All the staff were so lovely and warm. We arrived at ~11:20am and waited for about 20 minutes. They have tables for groups of 5-6. The perfect place for lunch before or after a visit to Todai-ji temple.

This place is amazing!! 🤩 The soba is super high quality and the tempura is so light. Just amazing.

In my non-expert opinion, this was the best Soba I ate across the whole trip.

The place is also very authentic.

Be sure to arrive early and queue. There are only a few sits available.

This place gets packed with visitors from the nearby Todai-ji temple. As such, we had to wait approximately 30 minutes to get seated. Nevertheless, the staff was kind and accommodating. The restaurant is cozy, with simple decorations and beautiful wooden floors and tables.

We ordered the tempura and the toji soba, both hot. We would recommend the larger portion size. They arrived shortly, and they tasted fantastic. Light broth with yuzu notes and delicious noodles. The tempura were expertly fried, and the purple yam was a delicacy.

As we were the last customers to receive service, we helped them with their "Sold out" sign. When they noticed, they brought us a few tempura vegetables for free. Gracious!
