I had great experience. Extremely foreigner friendly hotel. Moreover the staff speaks English and was really helpful with everything. The staffs always immediately replied to all my queries via text. Moreover the location is near many tourist spot and we'll connected via public transport and lots of restaurants to choose from, including foreign cuisines..

I would recommend staying here to anyone visiting Kyoto. The inn is very clean, well run and the staff's English skills were fine. The owner/manager and front desk staff were extremely helpful when i needed to forward our luggage to another city and provided tips and assistance in using the local post office to ship a box back to the U.S. There are lots of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. It's located close to the university but within walking distance of most of the sights we wanted to visit. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Breakfast is not included but there are convenience stores close by which all have a great variety of things you can prepare in your room. Also close to a McDonald's.

Friendly, helpful and accommodating stay. The staff helped us book a nice Michelin restaurant ahead of our stay and pointed out some great local shops to visit. The room was cleaned daily and they even explained how the local laundromat worked. You can get to a bus stop with a 3 minute walk that can get you to just about anywhere in Kyoto. There were lots of great food options nearby as well.

What a fantastic place to be able to choose to stay on our own first trip to Japan. The room was cozy and had a lot of space for us to be able to spread out. The beds are comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. We had a view of a small garden that was just very peaceful and zen-like. We are worth within a 10 minute walk to the Keihen train to be able to get us places very easily. One of the biggest perks is that the owner is from Canada and speaks full English. That truly helped us to be able to determine where to go and what train lines and Subway Lines to get in to go places. Probably the two only complaints that I had from this place. Number one the owner does provide you a paper that you give to the cab driver to find the place, however, the cab driver still couldn't find the place. It is a little bit out of the way in the streets leading up to the in our very small and unless you know where you're going probably won't find the place normally. The second complaint was that all the doorways in the hotel room were 7ft, however, there was one doorway that was five and a half feet. I struck my head multiple times on that and it was difficult to remember especially in the middle of night when you get up to go to the bathroom. I wish there was either a light or at least some foam or something on that door way to protect your head, because it really hurt when you hit your head on that. Otherwise I would highly recommend staying here if you need somewhere to stay in the Kyoto area as I have no regrets despite those two complaints.

This place was fantastic. The location is very convenient for both visiting downtown and for business near the university, and the proprietors were helpful and kind.

There's also a really good Japanese breakfast place around the corner, おうちごはん きりん家.
