Here, this restaurant offers a lunch time special, where the prices are half of the average, so we took the chance to try this out. I'm also expecting others to know how sukiyaki is eaten by dipping the contents into raw egg "sauce," so I didn't include that in the brief summary. That's a pre-requisite you would need to overcome first before trying this dish. We didn't reserve a spot ahead of time, so when we arrived at the restaurant, we waited in line. The line was short but it did take a while for it to move. Fortunately, we started waiting when the previous group had finished eating, so it felt like the wait is around 30 minutes. Once we got in, we took off our shoes and the staff handed us a card that reminded me of the tablets in Spirited Away. The elevator was so cool, I don't know why -- the floor was tatami. The atmosphere is quiet, reserved and equally peaceful. Each table had a large basket in which we placed our bags. There is a designated staff member, who carried in drinks, setting up the table, and initiating the first cooking process. After the first cooking process, she gestured the card that is placed with instructions on how to cook the sukiyaki. If you can speak Japanese, I was able to learn other instructions, like making sure the shirataki (the yam noodles) do not cook beside the beef. Some little knowledge here and there about the city, that was a joy to listen to. The staff also carefully explained the different ingredients from regions across Japan. The food experience was splendid, and the staff was very thoughtful. We were happily content after eating the dishes. Sure, the meat quantity feels small at first, but it was just enough in a perfect way. It could be the right balance of the vegetables with the meat. Anyways, I had a good food experience here and I was glad we chose here to have a sukiyaki lunch

Look no further, one of the best sukiyaki restaurants in Tokyo. So far, I had the opportunity to eat at this restaurant twice, and I can say that I was more than impressed each time with the quality of the food and service. Don't waste your time, and just order the sukiyaki lunch special gozen at Asakusa Imahan for ¥4950 (each person). The quality of the meat is top-notch and marbled to perfection. The waiter will set everything up and show you how to cook the first piece, then let you handle the rest. The meal itself is more than enough, but if you are really hungry and you are the first 20 to get it, you can order some of the beef bowl specials they have for lunch only. Overall you would suggest to arrive at least 30-40 minutes before opening to be the first batch to be seated but don't get frustrated if you are in the alternate second line on the opposite of the building because the restaurant is multiple floors so they can accommodate quite a few parties. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants the best of the best sukiyaki restaurants around.

I have eaten some great food in Japan - mostly because I have made a few movies there and was on an expense account. This amazing meal was due to that day's business lunch. Here's what the management says: "Asakusa Imahan Kirakutei" is a new store of Asakusa Imahan, which has been dedicated to beef since its founding in 1895. In addition to the signature dish "Asakusa Imahan-style Sukiyaki," you can enjoy a variety of dishes that make the most of the deliciousness of carefully selected Japanese black beef cows, such as steaks and hamburgers, in a casual style. Whether you are alone or in a group, please come and enjoy the "refined taste" and hospitality that is unique to Asakusa Imahan in Shinjuku." "Asakusa Imahan Kokusaitōri Honten" is best known for it's Kobe Beef & Wagyu Beef Teppanyaki, and it's Kanto style Sukiyaki. One thing that I especially liked here was that we sat on cushions on the floor in the traditional Japanese fashion. This was a little hard on my old-man back, but well worth it. Our "Grill-Chef" however must have been in some pain, because you can not make the moves that he made without standing up - and he Never stood up. The Meals served at my table varied - and I tasted ALL of them. The standouts were... The "Ceramic Sukiyaki Lunch Set: Small dish, shoulder loin sukiyaki on a ceramic plate, rice, red miso soup, pickles." The "Hamburg steak lunch: Salad, small dish, hamburger steak, rice, red miso soup, pickles". The "Loin steak rice bowl, which had a Salad, a small dish of varied Tsukemono & rice, 6 pieces of delicious sashimi, and an entire loin steak bento, plus red miso soup, and Japanese Oshinko daikon pickles". and finally my favorite, the "Kobe beef sukiyaki course, consisting of two appetizers, Kobe beef loin sukiyaki, rice, red miso soup, pickles, & dessert". This Restaurant is also well known for it's BENTO BOX Business Lunches to-go. Here's what the management says: "Asakusa Imahan Bento Workshop, which specializes in delivering Asakusa Imahan, is selling a fall-only menu (until November 30th), in the fall-only "Shunsai Bento," which is very popular every year, is packed with fall flavors, including kinoko rice, carefully grilled salmon with saikyo seasoning, and beef tsukudani cooked with a sweet and spicy flavor that goes perfectly with kinoko rice. ".

Long wait but worth it. Got there at 1015am on a weekday and was first in line. The restaurant opens at 1130am. There is no need to line up too early unless you want to order the limited bowls and sukiyaki/shabu shabu sets (20 per day). Delicious sukiyaki, good service but a bit expensive.

If you are in mood for marbled (read: extremely fatty) beef, this restaurant is for you. Menu starts at 8,800 yen + 10% tax and service fee for miniature appetizers, a few slices of yummy beef, rice, miso soup, and tea. The menu is expensive for what you get, and may be tailored to tourists as they have menu and sukiyaki cooking instructions in multiple languages. In fact, the hostess made sure I am okay with the prices of the menu before seating me. After I agreed to the menu, she offered me the choice of table or Japanese tatami. I heard mostly English or Chinese spoken by other customers. That's not to say the food wasn't authentic or that I didn't have an enjoyable meal. My meal was delicious and service was attentive. Please do note that they recommend you dip the cooked beef in raw scrambled egg when consuming, which is new for me. I am still alive and healthy, so I guess that is all right.

High quality beef and a decent wait time right when it opened. Had to wait almost an hour but it was worth it. I would definitely recommend coming to this place at least once, to try the high quality beef japan has to offer. The service was top notch. The server was very attentive and also taught us how to cook the beef properly to get the best flavour out of it. Although the beef portion was small, you will get full from the vegetables and noodles at the end of the meal, if you order the lunch shabu combo. Side note: You really have to get there at least 30 minutes before it opens, or you will have to wait an hour.

Authentic Sukiyaki and Shabu Shabu restaurant! This place was amazing. Located right outside the Asakusa Sensoji Temple. It's a big restaurant with lots of small rooms. There are booth and tatami options. The servers all wear kimonos and are amazingly friendly and helpful. They have a full English menu so don't be afraid to ask. We started with hot towels and a lovely arrangement of utensils. Then we ordered a Tenjo cold sake. It is medium bodied and crisp tasting. Our server brought out a small tray with four sake glasses for us to choose from. I loved how cute the glasses were and how I got to select one as if I were choosing from my own cupboard. The set option we selected was the second sukiyaki choice, the marbled beef (130g of meat with mixed vegetables). We also ordered a side of the regular sukiyaki meat and it also came with veggies. For traditional sukiyaki, they provide a raw egg and you beat the egg then dip the cooked meat into it before eating. The marbled beef was so tender and the flavor was epic. It was heavenly. The regular sukiyaki meat was not as fatty and juicy buy still top grade beef. The soy sauce broth that you dip the raw meat in can get Salty so there's a cup of hot water for you to add in when it's time to dilute. The veggies included udon rice cake, cabbage, rice noodles, mushrooms and lettuce. Definitely a must try while in Tokyo!

Put this restaurant on your "must-do" list because it was BOMB!! Shabu Shabu (hot pot) in Japan doesn't sound the same as shabu shabu in America because it looks like you just dip the meet in hot boiling water whereas here in the US, you let it cook in a broth of choice SO my husband and I went for the sukiyaki option. If you're with another person, you both have to eat the same thing because there's only one hot plate. We've never had sukiyaki before so we were sooo happy to discover that this was one of the best things we've ever eaten. We opted for the combo that included the sashimi. If I were to do it all over again, I'd just get the sukiyaki set by itself because although the fish was good, it was nothing incredible and could have been omitted. Anyway, the server cooks the first round for you so you know how to do it and I'm just salivating just thinking about it. After the meat is cooked, you dip it in raw egg (sounds gross but it was surprisingly delicious!). The set comes with veggies as well. I would highly, HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. It was $135USD for 2 people but the quality is high and you don't tip so it's actually well worth it. The restaurant opens at 11:30AM and there's a line already forming at 11am. You don't need to be the first person in line but do try to be one of the first people so that you get a seat and eat the delicious food right away.

Asakusa Imahan Kokusaktōri was a sukiyaki and it did not disappoint. The restaurant boasted a grand building and a very welcoming reception when entering. Reservations are available, but on a Monday evening we were able to sit with no issue. The staff was all amazing with customer service. The waitress informed us that there was a buzzer on the table for when we were ready to order and was back to the table in less than thirty seconds when buzzed. We placed our order which included waygu beef. This option provided two appetizers, healthy portion of thinly sliced beef and variety of vegetables. The cooking of the beef occurred at the table. The waitress assisted with the first cooking of the beef and vegetables. She then left us ok our own to do the rest. It was a great experience, but she did have to come back to assist with the cooking at times. She was sweet and kind in our inexperience of cooking. However, she made us feel as if it was no bother and helped us throughout. We were able to pay for the bill at the reception and go on our way. The reception gave us a farewell and our server provided us with little keepsakes for our visit. Excellent service and a great meal.
