I had a hedgehog for 6 years and was missing my baby, so I had to visit Chiku Chiku. To interact with all hedgehogs, you have to pay 2.4k yen, which gives you an hour of interactive time. To interact with just one, you have to pay 1.3k yen, which gives you half an hour. Snacks are an extra fee. Each snack costs 400 yen, doesnt matter which one. When picking a hedgehog, they ask if you want an active one or a chill one. We wanted the cute chubby active one and boy, he was a handful but in the cutest way possible. They tell you the rules on how to interact. Was sad I couldnt pet their spikes because my baby loved that, but it depends on the hedgehog. Plus, with it def may stress a hedgehog since they dont know you at all. They will also tell you when your time is up. If they catch you dropping the hedgehog high up, they will automatically fine you. I dont remember what the fine was, but they will state the price as they state the rules. Overall, I recommend! Half an hour was enough for one baby. Glad to have visited.

First time at an interactive animal cafe, so glad we chose hedgehogs. Or harinezumi in Japanese (needle mice is the literal translation, which is apropos). Super nice staff who explain and demonstrate how to interact with the hedgehogs. You can wear the gloves they offer you but don't have to as long as you follow the handling rules, Hedgehogs are nocturnal so though you are allowed to interact with all of them, we chose only two pretty active ones:Rinrin and Kook. Rinrin was pretty nervous but Kook was very playful so we spent the bulk of the time with him. Kook's favorite toy was a plush fish that must've smelled good because he followed it around like a dog. We fed him little grubs and pellets. His terrarium was decorated to be a bakery. Super cute. I really enjoyed the time. Only critique was it felt like 80 degrees in there, which allegedly was for the hedgehogs but honestly too warm in my opinion. We got a free sticker to take as a souvenir.

This was my 3rd choice after getting shut out of the capybara and owl cafes, but I had a nice therapeutic time holding the hedgehogs. Some were more willing to be held than others with snacks being the great equalizer. One of the other non-hedgehogs tried to crawl up my sleeve with a member of the super friendly English speaking staff willing to help out. Nice atmosphere to just wind down - they provide gloves if you're a little skittish but they were optional. Fun fun.

I wanted to interact with all animals so I paid for the full hour and was able to feed them all. The staff is so friendly! They spoke English and helped me interact with the animals. One of the staff told me which ones I can pick up with gloves and which ones I didn't need any. She told me which ones loves butt scratches LOL There is unlimited drinks and you can sit and enjoy your time in there with the animals, but we didn't stay too long. We just went around and fed each one and took photos of each little cage with their cute decor. At the end, we were able to take photos with our favorite animal. We had such a great time and would come again.

We didn't know how to make an appointment but fortunately they had two available slots left so my two children were able to play with the hedgehogs. The one person who speaks English was very accommodating and nice. She allowed my husband and I to go in a take pictures. She also took great photos of us at the end. I would totally recommend this place but make sure to make reservations in advance.

I got to pick vacation locations for the first time in 25 years. I picked Japan and my wife agreed ..... which basically meant that, as long as I was in the country of Japan, she could dictate everywhere we went. A hedgehog cafe was near the top of her wish list. She practically needed a shotgun to get me to go with her. I just don't get the attraction of places like this. Take a small animal.... an owl, seal, cat or hedgehog.... put them in small cages, and charge customers to come in and play with them... all while sipping coffee or tea. Obviously they cater to young girls with the music selections they play here. So incredibly annoying girl pop music. The staff is sugary sweet and enthusiastic as they up-sell longer visiting times and hedgehog snack choices. I thought 30 minutes was just fine but NNNOOOOOO! My wife went for a full hour. Not since high school had a an hour seemed like a day. Since we upgraded time, we were able to play with all of the hedgehogs, not just a single critter. You sit on a stool in front of an acrylic cage, wear leather gloves and pick up the little rodents. Many places are only open during the day....which makes perfect sense. The animals are nocturnal so all they want to do is sleep while the girls try to pick them up and pose for pictures. They don't want to played with, and try to squirm out of your hands and back into their cages. So much fun! Get me the hell out of here. Between the music, the scared and uninterested creatures and the fact that this whole thing cost over sixty bucks, I could not get out of there fast enough. Animals are meant to be out in the wild. I hated every part of it. My wife, on the other hand, had an amazing time and loved every second......hence the 2 star rating.

This was an underwhelming experience. The hedgehogs are nocturnal and aren't playful during the day. You'll feel bad for waking them up. They'll only respond to you if you have food and then go back to sleep. The cafe also provides unlimited tea drinks for you but that's obviously not the main reason for why people go here. At the end, they'll put the hedgehog in a small bathtub and take a picture for you. They have to constantly feed the hedgehog for the hedgehog to stay in the bath tub and take a picture with you. It really seemed the hedgehog did not want any human interaction at all. Staff were friendly and welcoming. They spoke English.

The first hedgehog cafe I've been to, but it was a great experience! The staff speaks English and are very friendly. I felt bad waking my hedgehog, Plum, up, but she fell asleep in my hand and had a nice nap. You pay the fee, pick a hedgehog, and play with them for the time you have and you can also get snacks for them, which they will wake up and venture out of their corners for. They rotate the hedgehogs so they aren't over-handled. You get free tea and water, but i didn't have time for that nonsense. I'm very apprehensive around animals, but Plum was the sweetest and it didn't take long for me to warm up to her and haver her in my hand. You should definitely check out this cafe. It wasn't too busy since it was out of the way, so it's not overwhelming.

This place is beyond adorable. I loved every minute of it - really, it was such a joy to be there. The hedgehogs are very cute, albeit not as interactive as cats or dogs might be at a similar cafe. But, they are nocturnal, so you can't really expect them to be thrilled that you are waking them up from their slumber. The real pleasure is how sweet the staff is, and how well presented the cafe is, and the tiny scenes in which the hedgehogs spend their day.

Cute place that tries. Unfortunately, hedgehogs are nocturnal and only wake up for food and then quickly burrow back to sleep. The only nice hedgie was a chubby 2 year old who was relaxed and enjoyed the snack bowls we bought. Snacks cost 400 yen EACH and you have a choice of either pellets or worms. Great souviners and small selection of drinks you serve yourself.
