This place is super cute! We came for the hedgehogs. They give you gloves, worms to feed the hedgehogs and then place you in front of one of the carriers. It was fun watching the hedgehogs interact with each other and was very nice to be able to hold them. The people working there were nice and friendly. They were patient about us speaking English and we were able to communicate easily while using Google Translate.

Do you like petting cute animals? Then this place is a no-brainer to visit. It's known as the Harry Hedgehog Cafe, but you can find all different kinds of pets to interact with including an owl, meerkat, and hamsters. Make sure to pass the line of customers waiting in the stairwell. You need to go in and check in first. The people in line are either waiting to be called or don't realize that they need to sign up for a spot. The stairs barely fit the width of two people so I recommend signing up and then coming back in around 15-20 minutes. The hedgehogs are absolutely adorable. There's 6-8 of them, two in each tray, displaying varying levels of activity. Please respect their wishes to be left alone if they repeatedly scour out of your hands or start hugging a corner. They may feel tired from interacting with countless humans everyday. The hamsters are similarly shy and don't seem to like being disturbed in general. Saburo the meerkat seems curious and friendly. He loves to roam around regardless of whether he sees humans nearby. When I sat down next to him, he immediately decided to get cozy in my lap. Lastly, you have the owl. You're allowed to feed it and let it rest on your hand. Keep in mind that the owl costs extra to play with, so getting your money's worth is a hit or miss depending on whether it's in the mood to play along. As you'll find with Japan in general, the workers never never fell short of courtesy and politeness. Their willingness to help my friends and I added a noticeable level of enjoyment to the overall experience.

This café was lots of fun! It was actually my first time visiting an animal café, so I didn't know what to expect. Anyways, I went here on a rainy Saturday morning around 11:35am and there was a wait with a line. At this café, everyone has to make a reservation to get in. I spent 2 hours at this café. At this café, you can play the otters, hold some hedgehogs and hamsters, and they even have animals such as, rabbits and meerkats too! For the otters, everyone needs to make a reservation time slot to sit with the otters. I was so caught off guard whenever those otters jumped on top of me! The drinks we got from the vending machine were the Strawberry au Lait and the Lemon Soda. Everyone can get free drinks from the vending machine during there visit here. I liked how the vending machine drinks gives you the option to choose if you want it hot or cold. Both drinks I got wasn't too sweet and the Strawberry au Lait actually felt creamy even though it didn't look that creamy. I'd recommend this place! It's such a fun café with many animals to interact with, but the only problem I had during my visit here was that many of the hedgehogs looked sleepy when I was there.

Good or bad, there are NUMEROUS animal cafes in Tokyo, especially in the Harajuku area. When planning our Tokyo trip, my teenage twins were interested in visiting as many of them as possible. Definitely a touristy thing to do, but we're tourists, so there. We saw that there was a hedgehog cafe so thought we'd swing by. Upon entry, you select how long you'd like to stay (ex. 30 minutes), which animals you'd like to interact with (hamsters or hedgehogs) and if you'd like to purchase some food. After a brief information session, you are led to a sitting area with your very own hedgehogs to play with. One of the workers was also walking around with a meerkat! Unique experience. The kids loved every minute of it. Oh, and your visit comes with a drink (via the vending machines at the back of the room). 良くも悪くも、東京、特に原宿エリアには動物カフェがたくさんあります。東京旅行を計画していたとき、10代の双子の子供たちはできるだけ多くの動物カフェを訪れたいと言っていました。確かに観光客向けのアクティビティですが、私たちは観光客なので、そこに行き着きました。ハリネズミカフェがあることを知ったので、立ち寄ることにしました。 入場時に、滞在時間（例：30分）、触れ合いたい動物（ハムスターまたはハリネズミ）、食べ物を購入するかどうかを選択します。簡単な説明の後、ハリネズミと遊べる座席エリアに案内されます。スタッフの1人はミーアキャットと一緒に歩き回っていました！ユニークな体験でした。子供たちは毎分楽しんでいました。ああ、訪問には飲み物が付いています（部屋の後ろにある自動販売機で）。

We came to Hedgehog cafe in Harajuku and it was such a fun experience. It's kind of a tourist thing to do but super exciting. The cafe is upstairs and it's a room that has hedgehogs and hamsters. Each of them is in a cage and there are seating areas all around. We reserved our tickets online before attending. It was a pretty simple process and you just choose the time you want to come. You can book for an hour and select how many people are accompanying you. We had to wait a little bit before going in because we had ten people in our party and had to wait for people to leave. You have to keep track of your time since you have an hour only. But they give you a time placard of what time you came. Sometimes they ask you to show it to them so they know how long more you have. Inside it's a nice set up. They sat us down and told us the rules and how to hold the hedgehogs. There were resting areas for some of the hedgehogs so those were off limits. Since there were ten of us we sat around three different caged areas. Each cage had two hedgehogs in there. We got to hold the hedgehogs and take pictures. After we were done, they got to touch the other animals in the other cages. They also had a free vending machine for drinks. They served hot or cold beverages. The staff said that we could get two drinks each during our stay. Great experience, I'd recommend to anyone who hasn't been.

After walking around Takeshita street, I was fairly drained because of the large crowds and we decided on visiting a hedgehog café to relax. I generally have mixed feelings about animal cafes because I worry that the environment they are in isn't suited for them. I figured it would be fine at a hedgehog café. The store is located on the 4th floor and you can arrive via the elevator or narrow staircase. There are options to interact with hedgehogs and/or hamsters for 30 minute intervals. They charge you by minute if you go over the allotted time. We decided on the 30 minutes with treats for the hedgehogs. They provide you gloves and one free drink from the vending machine. Prior to interacting with the hedgehogs, the staff tells you how to properly hold the hedgehogs and to avoid lifting them too high or away from the container. We were seated by the front and although it wasn't busy, the place still felt cramped and too warm. It was fun to feed the hedgehogs but we noticed most of them were too tired to be carried. There's also a very cute meerkat that they allow you to pet but not pick up. Most people were rather respectful but a select few should not have been allowed to handle them. One person in particular was repeatedly carrying the clearly exhausted hedgehog too high and too far away from the table as she was trying to take photos with them. The staff was too busy to notice. Overall, I wouldn't come back because of the potential mishandling of the hedgehogs and hamsters but if you do visit this place, please be mindful of their comfort and safety. ** The restroom is located to the right of the front counter and is rather cramped.

Me and my never-ending shenanigans. I can never resist checking out random things we are not accustomed to when I travel. I had this place bookmarked for our Japan vacation and so glad we came here. This place is located on the 4th floor and a bit hard to find as it's located in a small, tiny street in Harajuku. You get to choose 30 minutes or 60 minutes to hold and feed the hedgehogs. You are provided with gloves. The hedgehogs are sooooo stinkin cute! The café is super cute and warm. They have a few tables with 2-3 hedgehogs, and you can stay at one or move to other ones as you please. Honestly, I was a bit nervous to hold them, but my husband made it look easy. They provide mealworms and tweezers to feed the hedgehogs and I cracked a few mealworms, and some flew on the floor. Whoops. The staff explained how to handle the hedgehogs and what not to do. There are even illustrations all around showing how to handle them and their behaviors. They seemed pretty chill to me. I had to flip them a few times to see their face and my husband almost dropped one. Our time inside the café flew so fast, but I'd say 30 minutes is enough time. After our time was up with the hedgehogs, we got our free coffee/tea and enjoyed it before we left. This place is so cool, you won't regret it.

It is located on the fourth floor, and you need to take the elevator to get there. Once you get out of the tiny elevator, the space opens up in front of you. You are greeted by friendly staffs, and walk you through their prices, rules and regulations. The price is based on the time, with an option to add treats for hedgehogs. The fee is per person, so more people you have with you, the pricier it will become. We were taken to a seat by the container that had four hedgehogs. We were pretty lucky, since we visited Hedgehog Cafe Harry during a weekday, and off peak, so it was not busy. Another thing that comes with the fee is one drink per person. They have two vending machines, and you get to choose one drink. The paper cup that it comes with were pretty small, so don't expect much... The hedgehogs are SOOOOOOO adorable!!! You are given a pair of thick gloves, in case they get feisty and bite you. We had that issue with one of the hedgehogs. He was not in a mood to play, just wanted to sleep. Hey, I get it, they have to be picked up and played with all day with strangers, they need some rest every once in a while... But other three were playful and it was so fun holding them and looking at them. Who knew Hedgehog Cafe could be so fun? The treats for hedgehogs came in a tiny little container, and it looked like dried worms? They seemed to like it a lot, but feeding them was not as exciting as holding them. Another animal they had was Meerkat! Another animal we have never seen in real life! We got to pet this cute little thing a bit too. If hedgehog is not your thing, you can opt for hamsters instead as well. They were certainly playful and cute. This was such a unique experience, and very memorable. The hedgehogs were adorable, and I thank them for their patience to play with us silly humans. Please be mindful of these little hedgehogs, be kind and considerate.

400th review for the hedgehog cafe! I was really excited to come here because of all the things that I have read but I don't think my experience quite lived up to its hype. It was a little difficult finding the building because it is on the 4th floor and the entrance to the elevator was pretty small. In addition, I'm really not sure you can play with the hedgehogs for 1 hour (the minimum you pay for). To hold the hedgehogs, you had to wear these big gloves but despite this protective gear, they can still easily prick you (happens more often when they are scared). The staff was very helpful and friendly in helping us play with the hedgehogs but I felt so bad for them because everyone just kept picking them up and putting them down when they looked like they just wanted to sleep. The whole time I was there I just felt guilty about bothering the hedgehogs even though I knew that this was an experience I was paying for. I don't think any animal should go through that. Side note: The hedgehogs also pooped A LOT. The $20 entrance fee also includes one free tea or coffee which tastes okay. Overall, would probably not come back just because of how bad I feel for the hedgehogs. Makes me not want to go to other animal cafes after realizing how much the animals don't want to be there. By the way, you can even purchase hedgehog if you bond with one of them enough?
