TLDR: food was okay, but not good enough to make up for the terrible service. We came on a weekday for lunch with no reservation, and we had to wait for about 7-8 minutes. But when we walked in, there was maybe only about 10 tables being used in the whole restaurant. Not sure if they were under-staffed, or if it was a COVID measure, but I guess it just seemed a bit odd. A lot of people talked about the atmosphere, and I kind of get it if the place was busy and buzzing, but the vibe I got was a wannabe Hooters where the servers wore crabs on their heads instead of hot pants and tight t-shirts. They even had a birthday celebration when we went, which consisted of dimming the lights, super loud pop music playing, and the whole serving staff choreographed to do a half-hearted song and dance number for the birthday person. There were only 4 parties in the restaurant. The food was alright. I personally miss having cajun-style crab/shrimp boils that come in a plastic bag, and while there was some hollow semblance of that here, they seemed to make it into more of a gimmick than anything. We got the course which consisted of caesar salad (which was just whole romaine leaves doused in dressing and cheese wrapped up in parchment paper), all you can eat pasta and bread (the pasta looked like broken up boiled lasagna that had no shape and no sauce) and the seafood boil itself. I'm all for eating everything with my hands, but it just felt, forced. Their "signature sauce" was like a spicy marinara which was okay, just not the spicy, buttery cajun sauce I miss. But what actually really turned me off from this place was the service. Our server didn't seem to want to be there, flapped the parchment table in front of us, plonked all the food on our table and walked off right away, and even though it was supposed to be a tabehoudai (all you can eat) service the servers never came around to check for refills, and there was no way to grab their attention as we were seated in a corner out of sight. The only time we saw our servers was when they brought the food, told us it was last call, and when they told us we had to get out of the restaurant. During last call, they wrapped up the seafood mess with the parchment table cloth, but we all heard a loud *thump* and it turned out, the server almost wrapped up my smartphone and trashed it. No apology nor a sense of remorse; I was NOT pleased. That really was the last straw. As a former restaurant server, I really can't excuse the terrible service and attitude from the staff we had. Lunch crowd not being as busy as it was, the staff were standing around just chatting with each other and giving the customers attitude, neither the atmosphere nor the food could make up for how badly we were treated.

Crab extravaganza!! Eating with bare hands, shoving them in my face.. It sure made me feeling like a zombie(I guess I've been watching too much of The Walking Dead). Brunch course(3000 yen) included assorted veggies and crab legs, mini octopus, small crabs, also refill free breads and a cup of soup. And we ordered in 3 types of sauce. So far I liked "signature sauce" the best. They were quite delicious but I wish they were little bit more generous on crab legs. I think there were only 2 batches of crab leg in the bag. Other than foods, they occasionally throw some birthday celebrations and also their waiters and waitresses do some dance performance like Japanese boy/girl band. I thought music was too loud but I think that it's just a sign of me being old. For young ones, it's needed to have vibrant atmosphere.

Food was great, entertainment was entertaining. However, on my reservation I had commented, "it is for my wife's birthday, I would like to surprise her." While we ate, the staff celebrated other people's birthdays. Then one of the waitresses told us it was last order. I walked to the front desk and asked them for a cake for my wife. They said that they couldn't make a cake, and sincerely apologized for the inconvenience.They either forgot or didn't look at the comment because my wife didn't get any recognition that it was her birthday, and I was very disappointed.

Mild version of Louisiana Cajun meets Japanese fresh seafood and service. I was craving this place after I read a review and seeing pics from a fellow Yelper. My first visit we were turned away. We were there an hour before closing and they were full. Made reservations for 2 days later(today 1/3/2015). It was such as tease to see and smell crab but not get any. We were not denied some awesome crab today! Dancing Crab is located on the 2nd Floor. Across the street from Starbucks. 3 minute walk from JR. Shinjuku Central East exit. We were politely greeted, reservations confirmed and then seated. We sat at a window facing the street. Noticed a big sink/hand washing station in the middle of the restaurant. Saw everyone there so "when in Rome, do as the Romans do". Makes sense since we'll be eating with our hands. The spigots give out water and also dry hands. Two aprons and claw breakers were on the table. Drinks- Ordered the a jug(mason jar) of Louisiana Dancing and a Blue Moon Wheat Beer. Louisiana Dancing is somewhat of a hard lime-aid. It's ok for me. Enough about everything else. Let's talk about the FOOD! Beer Batter Cajun Calamari- the Calamari rings were fresh and breaded just right. Generous portion. Came with a tangy dipping sauce. Seafood Combo Bag (¥6500)with additional Queen Crab (¥4000). We ordered it with the Dancing Crab Signature seasoning. Comes with King Crab, Queen crab, swimming crab, prawns, mussels, octopus, corn, potatoes and Bacon chunks. Love it!!! Like a lot of food served in Japan it's all about serving fresh(not frozen fresh) seafood and putting out the best product. Worth paying the high ¥. My only complaint is the "extra spicy" signature seasoning would be considered mild in Louisiana. The server warned us about ordering extra spicy. We ordered it and didn't break a sweat. Overall a great meal, eating experience. Will be glad to come back.

Coming here for the first time, hearing people rave about this place, I was thoroughly dissatisfied. Starting off, it had a two hour waiting time and the restaurant was visibly not busy. After being seated we waited about 30 minutes for our food (which I was happy with). However, the amount of crab and food served was preposterous for the price of the meal. The atmosphere in the restaurant is fantastic but it falls short when I comes to service. My table waited 45 minutes for Long Island ice teas after asking three times. With that said, the drinks we ordered were perfectly mixed Unless you are looking to spend over $150 on just yourself to have a decent meal, I would NOT recommend this place.

Came in at 7pm and was told last orders were 7:30. Which is absolutely fine. So they sat us down at a table and we waited 5 mins for a drink menu and another 15 for the actual food menu? Lost some points there. Then they gave us 3 drinks (we came as a couple) and it was not what we ordered. We had to flag them down and they didn't comprehend that the drinks were incorrect (I hazard a guess the drinks were for the 3 diners next to us). The waitress told us the incorrect drink was mine (a white sangria), we said no cos I ordered a cranberry sangria!!!! Again not doing so well here guys! Onto the food - all tables are covered in a sheet of waxy paper. The waiter will serve you your crab stuff in a plastic bag and dump it on your table - cool novelty. We ordered a combo bag which has queen crab, swimmer crab, mussels, prawns, mini octo's, bacon squares and corn. We had this in their signature sauce in spicy. They also say the combo bag serves upto 3 people. Note: feeds barely 2 and spicy sauce is not spicy lol it was seafood in spaghetti sauce pretty much!!! Again service failed cos they didn't give us any cracking tools like they did with other tables, so had to hail someone down for it. The only cool notable thing about this place is at the centre of the restaurant there's a hand washing station, which is a line of taps and sinks to wash your hands in and dry as well. Hope to see something like this implemented back home! So in conclusion, service was unfortunately crap and I don't think it's due to language barriers at all, they really weren't that attentive and made more than a few mistakes. Food is average.

With crab legs being one of my favorite foods, I had to try the Dancing Crab. The atmosphere is pretty cool with the wait staff dancing to the music and keeping everyone entertained while they eat. Of course, it also makes it fun and a lot easier when you are able to eat your crab legs right off the table. We ordered a couple of combo bags for a family of 4 where we had crab legs and shrimp. The Dancing Crab signature sauce was good, but be advised it is very wet if you are looking for more of a dry rub on your crab legs. It is not easy to find restaurants that serve Dungeness crab so that was a plus! After eating from the table with dirty hands, it was convenient to have sink stations in the middle of the restaurant. Reservations are a must, and with it being so packed on the day that we went, the service wasn't the most attentive. Overall, it is a cool place to have drinks and seafood with a group of friends hanging together and looking for somewhere cool to try in Shinjuku.

Not Cajun... more like spicy pasta sauce with seafood. Service is mediocre but all the celebratory stuff is too in your face. You could have fun if you're there for the atmosphere, fun drinks and partying! But do not go expecting good Cajun food like boiling crab in the US
